Words From The Chair

Kernesa Samana / 2020 THE Ohio WiNUP Chapter Chair

How often do you hear the response 'busy', when you ask someone how things are going? It seems to be a default answer- and the default state of the way we operate. Between my relatively new role at work, my special assignments, WiNUP, Girls on the Run and my extracurricular activities, I find my stress level approaching new highs.

To counter act my rising stress levels, I recently cut back on a few activities. While explaining my need to reduce my time commitment, I had someone suggest that if they can juggle all of their responsibilities, I should be able to do that as well. That sentiment struck me, because a part of me wants to rise to that challenge, but another part of me realizes that I cannot get caught in the trap of comparing myself to others. I can only do MY best. My message for you this month is to do your best, and not compare yourself to others. You are enough!

The motivational track for February is: Make it Happen by Mariah Carey. Thank you to Julie Nickrand for the recommendation! If you have a song that moves you- send it to me, I may include it in a future newsletter!
