My name was Daniel Lane. I was born in the Year 1920 in Berlin, Germany. When I was growing up Hitler was coming into power. In fact when I was ten my mother put me in a group called the Hitler Youth. At first my mother was a little sketchy about the idea but her friends kept telling her how much their children enjoyed it. Also, mom kept seeing signs all over the place just like this one that finally convinced her to sign me up.
Hitler Youth was an alternative for regular schooling. I entered at age ten into the Deutsches Jungvolk (German Young People) until the age of thirteen. After that I began my real Hitler Youth experience. Instead of the regular stuff like learning to read and do math, I learned different military athletics. I was able to learn how to do marching, pistol shooting, bayonet drilling, grenade throwing, trench digging, map reading, gas defense, how to use dugouts, and I learned how to get under barbed wire fences. I was also taught that Jews were the cause of all of Germany's problems. The Jews were the cause all of the poverty that came after World War 1. I learned all of this stuff from ages thirteen to eighteen.
Once I was eighteen and i graduated, my teachers tried to convince me to go and join the army, but I declined. Near the end of the War though I joined to represent the Hitler Youth. I was a major part of the last line of German defense. I fought fiercely. I took all I that I had learned in the Hitler Youth and used it to my advantage. I used my pistol to take out enemies that got close to me, I threw grenades over to the enemies' trench, and I read the map a lot so I could plan out my next move. After all of that hard work Germany still lost.
After the war I learned that Hitler secretly had over six-million Jews killed. At first i thought this was a good thing but i soon found out that the Jews weren't in fact the cause of any of Germany's problems. I felt so guilty that I committed suicide on my birthday in 1950.
