Newsletter 9 November News from Upper Moutere School

Dear Parents/Caregivers

Congratulations to the Fundraising Team who coordinated our Vintage and Retro Fair last Saturday AND somehow got the weather to play its part in the end too!

Thank you too everyone who contributed to the day in so many ways. Our school looked fantastic and once the people began to arrive the atmosphere created lifted even more.

About $23,000 was raised from all of the hard work. This will cover the cost of the installation of Shade Sails over the deck outside Marama with money to spare, to put towards another project or projects. A brilliant result! See all our wonderful sponsors in this newsletter. Congratulations to the Marr family on winning the Hanmer Holiday raffle.

Tomorrow we have our athletics sports day at the Moutere Hills Centre. The weather again is not playing ball, though at this stage the heavy rain predicted Friday has not eventuated and reports for Saturday are looking more consistent for no rain predicted. Let’s hope this is the case. We will review our decision just before the end of school and first thing tomorrow morning. Please ensure your child has something warm ( NAMED) to put on between events. All going well, see you all at the Centre 8.40am tomorrow.

Next week will see us start to get into rehearsing for our School Production, coming to you on stage Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 December…already the songs are sounding great… I hear some of you already know them too!

We also have TOP Team on Wednesday. Sports Tasman join us for the day and we compete in our houses over a variety of activities…some which we get very wet at!

Also next week we have a couple of teams participating in a Football Tournament at Saxton Field.

We are starting to look at our school structure for next year. We are currently in the process of appointing a teacher to fill Kirsty’s maternity leave position for Term one. We are excited we have been able to appoint Lauren to continue to be part of our team for 2019. If you would like to discuss your child’s placement for 2019 please have a chat with me over the next week or so.

Lastly, as you will be aware, school is closed next Thursday 15 November as our Teaching Team is on Strike.
