Note about Daylight Savings Time and Student Sleep Schedules
Over the past few months, many of our Smith Knights have shared that the challenges of the 2020-21 school year have taken a toll on their sleep schedules. Changes in routine, extended periods of inactivity, and the increased reliance on technology for learning, entertainment and social interaction are just a few of the factors referenced by students. With daylight savings time set to begin at 2:00am on Sunday, 3/14 our counselors thought it would be an opportune time to share a great resource from the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), about teenage sleep hygiene. The handout from CHOC discusses factors that influence teenage sleep cycles, the consequences of not getting enough sleep and provides some specific tips for establishing healthy sleep habits. Please share this information with your students and feel free to contact your child’s counselor if you have any questions.
More Smith Clubs Starting!
We are excited to share that more student clubs will be available to our Smith Knights. Please make sure your child joins the Schoology group if he/she is interested!
The first meeting of our Forensics Club will be on Wednesday, March 10th at 3 p.m. on Zoom (code in group).
