BABY BOOMERS: After wwii soldiers return home and due to economic prosperity the generation's population boomed.
WHITE COLLAR: More jobs offered such as white collar jobs that workers could work inside an office without getting dirty and being on the field doing hard hands on works like blue collars.
CONFORMITY: To conform to the society and be like each other both on social status, appearances and behaviors, such as housewife, and white collars, buying houses.
ROCK AND ROLL: new music genre that is African American rhythm and blues. The society sees it as devil's music and it is dissent form conformity.
HOLLYWOOD 10: Holly wood actors directors that were suspected of being communists, however they refused to names of suspected communists or testify before committee.
COLD WAR: The political differences between US and USSR, created a climate of icy tension that plunged the two countries into an era of bitter rivalry.

BEATNIK: means being beat down by culture, tended to shun work and sought understanding through Zen Buddhism, music, and sometimes drugs.
MARSHALL PLAN: an economic aid proposed by George Marshall, providing money to all European nations rebuilding their economics. New markets for were opened.
Suburban Housewife: Women being stereotyped after WWII being housewife, pleasing their husband in every way, be perfect any minute.
MASSIVE RETALIATION: is a military doctrine and nuclear strategy in which a state commits itself to retaliate in much greater force in the event of an attack.

WARSAW PACT: due to the decision of forming NATO in democratic countries, USSR created Warsaw Pact to form an military alliance in eastern Europe.
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ACT: constructed 40,000 miles of interstate highways, in order to transport missiles and military supplies quickly.
SEATO: SouthEast Asia Treaty organization, established under the support of president eisenhower, attempt to restrict communist aggression in asian countries, block further spread.
McCARTHYISM: Joseph McCarthy accused politicians as communists to earn his position, turned the red scare into an witch hunt, suspecting everyone with little evidence, searched for disloyalty based on poor evidence and fear.
KOREAN WAR: On June 25, North Korea invaded South Korea, passing the 38th parallel line. Us forces helped South Korea and established appeasement.
CAPITALISM: an economic system in which money is invested with the goal of making more money.
COMMUNISM: Government ownership of industry, created as a reaction to capitalism, goal to bring economic equality.
U-2 AFFAIR: America spy plane got shot down by USSR, although we denied the involvement in espionage, due to the fact that the pilot is captured by USSR, USA had to admit this affair and it was an embarrassment.
UNITED NATIONS: created after WWII, the purpose is to keep world peace and provide military aid to any member when attacked.
THE TRUMAN DOCTRINE: a statement established under president Truman, providing economic aid for European countries under communist threats.
FALLOUT SHELTERS: residents are scared of the radiation of nuclear bombs and the destruction of the bombs, therefore they dig wholes in their backyard to construct fallout shelter in order to protect themselves from radiations.
HUAC: The House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was created in 1938 to investigate alleged disloyalty and subversive activities on the part of private citizens, public employees, and those organizations suspected of having Communist ties.
RED SCARE: During cold war, the country is fearing the spread of communism into USA, however due to political tactics, McCarthy said there were 205 politicians that are communists in the government, starting the red scare, suspecting everyone with little evidence, like an witch hunt.
SPUTNIK:The first satellite in space launched by the Ussr, which warned the united states that we are behind in the space TECHnology.
DWIGHT EISENHOWER: 34th president of America, elected after Harry Truman, he is very supportive on nuclear weapons, uses massive retaliation and brinksmanship to communist countries.
Harry Truman: 33th President of America, elected after FDR during WWII, he supported the truman doctrine, loyalty review, and Marshall plan, also fired Douglas McArthur due to subordiantion.
Alger Hiss: an American government official who was accused of being a Soviet spy in 1948 and convicted of perjury in connection with this charge in 1950.
THE ROSENBERGS: wife and husband being accused of the involvement of spy ring during Manhattan project, although they said they were innocent but was still sent to electric chair and executed.
JONAS SALK: an American medical researcher and virologist. He discovered and developed one of the first successful polio vaccines.
JOSEPH STALIN: leader of USSR, during cold war supported communism, created the Warsaw pact and told North Korea to invade South Korea.
JOSEPH MCCARTHY: Senator from the state of Wisconsin, He was noted for alleging large numbers of Communists and Soviet spies and sympathizers inside the federal government and elsewhere. Ultimately, the controversy he generated led him to be censured by the U.S. Senate. The term "McCarthyism"
William Levitt: Real estate owner. He is very well known of constructing cookie cutter houses during the 1950s.
ELVIS PRESLEY:American singer ,one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll".
DOUGLAS MACARTHUR: Famous general during wwi wwii and korean war, however he subordinated by persisting his idea of attacking China, no matter what President Truman responded, therefore he got fired.
