with traditional songs and dances
and Slovak ancient tradition - with bread and salt
Guided tour around the school

We showed our foreign classmates and their teachers special classrooms....

as well as usual classrooms where the pupils learn every school day

Ice - breaking activities and team Building
Let’s know each other better!
Pupils had to make a pair and found out five things about their friend in a pair....
....then they made a circle and each of them had to say what things they found out about their partner from pair
Next activity was about truth and lie. Every pupils had to say one thing about themselves which is true and one which is false. Others had to guess.
Official welcome by Mayor of the town in town hall
The Mayor of the town officially welcome whole project team in the town hall in the afternoon.
Coordinators of the project introduced the Mayor of the town the main idea and goals of the project....
....and the parter schools from Spain, Italy and Germany.
The pupils from Slovak school prepared for the Mayor hand - made books about Humenne.
The Mayor personally greeted each teacher from partner schools.
Visiting of Manor House and Open Air Museum in Humenne

Mannor House in Humenne was the last activity of the 1st mobility day.

The pupils with their teachers had an opportunity to know the history of the town and got closer to understanding our traditions, culture and habits.

Open air museum showed our visitors folk architecture and how the people lived in the past.

TUESDAY, 21st MAY 2019

Excursion Day

Sheep farm in Dlhé nad Cirochou

This farm is very unique and well - known

The farm belongs to the top of agricultural companies for primary production of the products with animal origin.
The farm and its production tries to renew the tradition of the region and produce sheep milk and its products of high quality.
They produce different kinds of cheese which are hand - made...
...such as sheeps’ milk lump cheese; natural full - fat, semi - hard and unripened cheese; cheese preserved in sunflower oil with pepper and garlic; cheese preserved with olives; smoked cheese; sheeps’ milk ripened cheese...
Breeding cycle is closed
Daily life consist of feeding, grazing, indoor housing, shearing and...
... milking twice a day.

Students could see many animals from all over the world

Educational workshop

Pupils were given the special opportunity to make their own sheeps’ milk lump cheese by themselves.

Firstly everyone who wanted to make a cheese had to wash their hands
The kind person from this organization showed the pupils the whole procedure
Then the students could start to prepare and make their own cheese.
finally wait just an hour and their cheese was already done and prepared for eating

At the end of this awesome day the students could enjoy horse - riding.

WEDNESDAY, 22nd MAY 2019

Practical workshops and increasing digital and langauge skills

Wednesday morning - school canteen, the main workplace

Practical workshop - preparing food

Pupils were divided into six international teams
They prepared six different salads with the different main crop in each one
The main crop was also the main crop which they described in the main output - eMagazine
Pupils recorded the whole procedure of preparing salad and then used this movie in their eMagazine

Our project activities were medially presented our local television HNTv

Afternoon activities were placed in biology classroom

Six international teams started to make six eMagazines about the crops which are growing in Slovak raised beds

They used Adobe Spark Page application for making presentation...
... and iMovie application for editing video about preparing salad
Apart from increasing digital and language skills...
this cooperation in teams brought development of social competences as well
The work in teams supported also the sense of team management and team spirit
Peer to peer method was used during the work and every pupils got different skills and experiences from other one.
Teachers’ help was needed just occasionally

THURSDAY, 23rd MAY 2019

Heavy rain changed our plans for Thursday

Instead of excursion day focused on our national crops, typical kind of vegetable and fruits connected with planned educational activities.....

teams had the time for finishing their eMagazines
Each team chose one member who presented their common work

Six teams made six main outputs - eMagazines with the basic information about cultivation, growing conditions and some possibilities of the use the choosen vegetable in the kitchen

Kohlrabi
Onion
Cabbage
Carrot
Radish

Last but not least important was the questionnaire focused on pupils’ improved skills and social competences

Some important fact from the questionnaire results are that:

all members were able to cooperate in teams and they really enjoyed the team work...
More than 85% students think that the management in their team worked well...
Students were glad to be a part of an educational workshop where they prepared the sheeps’ milk lump cheese by themselves

School garden for teaching

How to use garden for different lessons

ENGLISH

Parts of speech

Students had to look around the garden and find eight nouns related with the garden, gardening, green...
... then add to nouns eight adjectives, verb, adverbs...
The second task was much more difficult
Pupils had to write Cinquain Poem according to the strict rules
HISTORY

Trees - the silent witnesses of the history

Although it was history lesson, it was directly connected with the school garden and biology
What express the rings on the wooden stump?
They express the age of the tree
How are the rings formed?
Teachers prepared for students some pieces of paper with historical facts written on them and smaller ones with the date of historical event
Firstly students read these facts ...
...and then they tried to match the name of the historical fact and the year when it happed
Finally they match them with the rings on the stump in correct order
MATHS

HOW TALL IS THE TREE?

The pupils measured the height of the tree by two very famous methods

Stick method
...based on the measurement by two stick of the same lenght
One stick is aimed at eye level horizontally and the second one at the end of the first stick vertically
Then the students moved forewards and backwards until the end of the vertical stick covers the top snd the bottom of the tree. The distance between the student and the tree was the same as the height of the tree

The measurement according to the height of the person

The students asked one classmate from the team to stand next to the tree
... they tried to estimate how tall is the tree according to the height of the student
Biology

How to use ICT in a school garden

How we can identify the plant?

PlantNet application

allows to identify plants from the pictures we have in our mobile phones or iPads

...or directly by taking photos of a plant we want to identify

We put labels with the numbers to the plants in our raised beds and school garden
Firstly students took the photos and then the tried to identify the plants with using PlantNet application

Inquiry based learning

Acid rains and laboratory system Vernier

Explanation of acid rains, how are they formed and what they cause in cooperation Slovak and Spanish biology teachers
Simulation of acid rain formation
The students simulated the formation of acid rains by bubbling each of three gasses into water
They notice down their findings
