3rd Sunday After Pentecost June 21st, 2020

On this Sunday set apart to honor fatherhood, we read of the covenant love that our Heavenly Father has for his children. We read of the great and wondrous power that belongs only to God the Father, and yet how gives ear to the prayers and cries of those who call on his name. He is the greatest of all fathers, He is the Lord. We read of the believer's unity in Christ, the Son, and how by faith, they are immersed in His life, death, and resurrection. Having heard the promises of God and received the testimony of the Holy Spirit, the Gospel Reading sets before us today life and good, and death and evil. Pray, choose life and acknowledge Christ to those in your presence.

A Prayer

God of our fathers, to fulfill the ancient promise of salvation, you made a covenant with our ancestors and pledged them descendants more numerous than the stars. Grant that all people may share in the blessings of your covenant, accomplished through the death and resurrection of your Son and sealed by the gift of your Spirit.

God of strength and courage, in Jesus Christ you set us free from sin and death, and call us to the risk of faith and service. Give us grace to follow Him who gave himself for others, that, by our service, may find the newness of life He came to bring. Amen.
