Pienza & Montepulciano Tuscany, ITALY

Today’s adventure involved the luxury of sitting back and relaxing as we got driven by our guide in a small group tour through the fabulous postcard Tuscany countryside. Firstly, along the most panoramic roads of Tuscany through the moonscapes of the Crete Senesi.

Then we entered the UNESCO heritage site of the Val D’orcia valley before arriving at the renaissance town of Pienza.

After Pienza it was on to a local dairy farm for a wholesome and refreshing lunch based on the fresh ingredients produced on the farm including tasting the famous pecorino cheese!

Our final stop was a visit to one of the biggest of the Tuscan hill towns, Montepulciano before finally heading back to Siena for the evening.

It was a great way to experience more of Tuscany that simply isn’t accessible without a vehicle and to learn a little more of the history of Italy and particularly Tuscany with Siena and Florence being the two mighty powerhouses of the region.
