APRIL NEWSLETTER THE CROSSING CHURCH

CROSSING CORNER

SERMON SERIES UPDATE

SELFIE | The Picture Is Bigger Than You

In our “Selfie” series, we’ve looked at the first big question in 1st Corinthians: “What is the nature of the church?” It’s not a place for competition, hero worship, celebrity pastors, human wisdom, or pride in making a name for yourself. Quite the opposite! Our Savior calls us to pick up our cross, put the needs of others above our own, and follow Him. These themes make up the first four chapters of the letter.

After Easter we will turn to the second big question of the letter: “What does it look like to be a selfless follower of Jesus in a self-centered culture?” The letter addresses many of the same questions we have today regarding sex, lawsuits, gender, marriage, worship styles, food ethics, sexual expression in fashion, and blurred lines between secular and sacred. Come join us and hear how God’s Word addresses us today. The times may change, but the questions stay the same!

We are thrilled to commission Zac and Karen Slusher and Jason and Rachael Goertz as Covenant Members of The Crossing. We charge you to go forward making disciples who make disciples in the City of Aurora. We will pray for, support and encourage you on your journey. We are so blessed to have you as part of the Crossing Family!

“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’ - Numbers 6:24-26

DEDICATIONS

Baby Dedication | Wesley Goertz

Such an honor to dedicate Baby Wesley this month and commit both as direct family and the body of Christ to raise up Wesley with the guidance and support of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

MISSION 10:45

DAY TO SHARE | May 21, 2017

Day To Share is one of the ways our church lives out Mission 10:45. It’s an annual free garage sale, when donated items are made available to our community at no cost. God has been generous with us - in our material possessions, in His love for us, and in the ransom He provided by his Son – and we seek to demonstrate that generosity to our community!

We need your help! There are many ways to join in serving our city through Mission 10:45’s Day To Share.

Contact Beky Balboa for more information.

2017 LADIES RETREAT

May 6-7

Join us for a relaxing time in Estes Park. This will be a time for all the ladies at The Crossing to pause from our normal routine, deepen our friendships with each other, and allow Christ to renew our spirit in Him. For more information, contact Beky Balboa, 951-733-5994 and beky@thecrossingaurora.org, and visit the Facebook event page for more details.

COFFEE AND FELLOWSHIP

JOIN US AT 9:30am EVERY SUNDAY

We believe community is important within the Church. Not just listening to a sermon on Sunday morning, but living life on mission together, spending time with each other, and being available to those around us. Coffee and Fellowship time is an opportunity to catch up with those you may not get to see on a daily basis. Above all it's an opportunity to be present as the Lord brings visiting families to The Crossing. Join us for a cup of brew and connect with your family. It's a swell time.
