Photographers and mountain guides, R.L. and Karen Stolz will present a program entitled "Creating the Photographs for Classic Adirondack Climbs," and sign copies of their recently released large-format, hardcover book of Adirondack climbing photographs on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 7:30pm. This program, at the Keene Valley Library in Keene Valley, NY is open to the public and admission is free.
A selection of five large prints from our book, Classic Adirondack Climbs: Rock, Ice & Slide Climbing Photographs from the East's Largest Wilderness (Collector's Edition) will be on display for a behind-the-scenes discussion about how the photographs were made. This program will be of interest to photographers, especially those interested in adventure photography, as well as climbers, hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts.
We'll discuss what inspired us to make each image, the specialized rigging and photographic techniques and planning required to actually create the photographs, and the process we used to select and present the final images. Each image we'll discuss has also been selected for inclusion in our Classic Adirondack Climbs Print Collection. Climbers and photographers are encouraged to inquire about the tools, techniques and vision that went into the making of each image. Signed and inscribed books will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Keene Valley Library, and prints can be ordered.
The Classic Adirondack Climbs project, a tribute to Adirondack climbing, consists of a book of inspirational climbing photographs, a collection of fine art photographic prints, and a climber's guidebook of selected Adirondack climbs, in ebook format.
Please join us as we explore a new perspective on Adirondack climbing!
