Coach Barkus, "It is always exciting to officially announce on National Signing Day the players we have been working with throughout the recruiting process. Once again we think we have put together a very good class, not only in the talent that they bring, but the character that they will also bring. We are losing nine players to graduation, seven of which were consistent starters so there is a lot of great talent that we have to replace. We feel like the players that make up this class have the ability to not just simply step in and fill a void, but to come in and have an immediate impact in our program. When we started to evaluate this group as players and learned about them as people over the past couple of years, we realized they were very easy to build a relationship with, and once they were on our campus as student-athletes, my interactions with them have been impressive. They know what our vision for Augustana Soccer is and want to develop and evolve with us. All of them enjoy competing at a high level and I am confident they will successfully embrace this new challenge. I am looking forward to adding them to our current group of players who have been committed to winning and building the amazing culture we have going on here at Augustana!"

  • Ashleigh Aarbo
  • Sioux Falls, SD (O'Gorman High School)
  • Dakota Alliance Soccer Club
  • Words from high school coach Ryan Beier, "Ashleigh was a co-captain this year and helped lead the team to their 6th consecutive state championship game. She has been able to fill multiple roles and her versatility has given her the ability to play any position on the field, including goalie. She was always willing to fill in wherever the team needed her to."
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Ashleigh comes from Augustana royalty and has been a Viking since birth. She is a defender for the modern game - intelligent, athletic, strong, fast, and she wants the ball. We think she has really developed into a college-ready player over the past couple of seasons. She has become one of the best defenders in the state and broke out as shut down defender over the past year or so. We know Ashleigh will get goosebumps and be so excited at her first opportunity to put the Navy and Gold kit over her head!"
  • Gabrielle Bowyer
  • Mankato, MN (Mankato High School)

She is one of the main reasons our team was the first in our clubs history to advance to the semifinals of the Minnesota State Cup. The combination of her speed, tackling ability, and overall athleticism will make her an excellent defender in the always competitive NSIC. I wish her all the best and am excited to watch her play at the next level!”
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Gabrielle can play in several defensive positions and her versatility makes her an outstanding addition for us! Gabrielle has good speed, an excellent presence on the ball, fantastic ball-winning abilities and is so smart! It will be exciting to see how quickly Gabrielle grows in this environment as I think she's just now coming into her own as a player!"
  • Sophia Connelly
  • Sioux Falls, SD (O'Gorman High School)
  • Dakota Alliance Soccer Club
  • Words from high school coach Ryan Beier, " Sophia was a co-captain this year and a leader on the team. She was also a first team all state player, and helped lead the team to their 6th consecutive state championship game. She has been an anchor for the defense during her time at O'Gorman, and always took responsibility of dealing with the opponent's best attacker."
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Sophia is a true box-to-box midfielder who absolutely runs opponents into the ground. She has solid quality experience playing in the midfield at both the #6 and #10 roles that will serve her well at Augie. Anytime I spoke to someone about Sophia they always said the same thing about her - she is a coach's dream, she works hard, she leads by example and gives all that she has 100% of the time. Sophia was heavily-recruited by us, and we are thrilled that she decided to be a Viking!"
  • Mckenzie Geiger
  • Ankeny, IA (Ankeny Centennial High School)
  • Iowa Rush Soccer Club
  • Words from club coach Daryl Brazeau, "Mckenzie is a player that plays with passion and hates to lose. She has the ability to impact the wide areas of the field. She is a lock down outside back. She has the pace, strength, and size to stay with the fastest and strongest opponents. On the offensive side, you will see her making endless runs up and down the line. She has the ability to beat defenders in 1v1 situations and also is known for getting on the end of a cross. I know she will do great things at Augustana University."
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Kenzie is tremendous at both the forward and wide back positions. She has a ton of speed and she can play on either side of the field. Since she will be bringing this versatility, which is something we look for in all of our recruits, it will allow her to compete right away for quality playing time. She has great character and is mega smart, and I think she will immediately compete for playing time in our program!"
  • Morgan Keirstead

  • Words from club coach Tobbe Thorsell, "Morgan has a great attitude and brings that to every practice and game. She never puts herself ahead of the team while she still works hard on her individual development. Her ability to see the field and do the unexpected at the right time in combination with her skills makes her a great offensive threat both as a play maker and as a goal scorer.
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Morgan is one of the most physically gifted athletes I may have ever recruited. Package that with being excellent technically and clean on the ball explains why she is going to play fairly quickly in what I believe to be one of the toughest DII conferences in the country. She loves the game, works hard, listens to instructions and brings a unbelievable attitude to win. She not only excels on the soccer field, but in the classroom and in her family life. She is a top level player and a top level person!"
  • Carlie Kray
  • Sioux Falls, SD (Washington High School)
  • Dakota Alliance Soccer Club
  • Words from high school coach Dale Weiler, "Carlie's athleticism, creativity, and desire are characteristics you see in her every day. She plays with passion and hunger, which will fit perfectly in the college game. Her ability to drive at defenders adn create something from nothing are ingrained in her as a player. She no doubt will cause fits for any defender in a 1v1 situation."
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Carlie brings a strong calming presence on the field, but plays with so much fire! She is a battler and goes 100% for all balls played into the box and will compete hard on both sides of the ball. Carlie is a huge threat in the attack and her speed will get her in behind defenses consistently. Also, with her ability to distribute/serve the ball, plus score goals, she is going to be incredibly difficult to defend and I anticipate that this will get her playing time right away!"

She comes from one of the top clubs in Minnesota, having played for Minnesota Thunder Academy ECNL program. She is dedicated to her goalkeeper training, speed, power, and strength training, which will all pay huge dividends for her as a goalkeeper at this level. She is smart, a great shot stopper and good with her feet. She will add size and talent to our goalkeeping tandem!"

If she is given space around the box, she is clinical with both feet and loves to score with her head. I know she will do great things at Augustana University."
  • Words from Coach Barkus, "Alexis can play either forward or midfield, but we are looking at her as a forward in her first year. She has good strength and is really good in the air, which is something we really need. She has the ability to come in and put a head on the ball in the opponent's box, however Alexis can distribute the ball extremely well to create dangerous situations offensively for us as well.
