Aliyah Benton is a driven young professional with a passion for Early Career Program development, recruiting, event planning, diverse talent research, and candidate sourcing. She is from Charlotte, North Carolina and currently resides in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This website showcases her talent acquisition projects, non-profit business experience, multimedia experience, writing, and design skills. She graduated May 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from North Carolina A&T State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Southern California.

She currently works for Dimension Data as an Associate Talent Acquisition Consultant. She is also the proud Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thrive Women's Empowerment.

Dimension Data Associate Talent Acquisition Associate

In Aliyah's current position as an Associate Talent Acquisition Consultant she focuses on further developing the BigStart Internship Program, starting a new Graduate Program/Co-op Program for new college graduates. She is very passionate about finding diverse target schools that have a variety of students interested in the technology field.

Within the BigStart Internship program she has piloted the Learning With Leaders Initiative and BigIdeas Case Competition. Through the Learning With Leaders Initiative she brings in leaders to speak about their career journey and speak about professional topics. Lastly, the BigIdeas Case Competition challenges the students in our program to work in teams to solve a business problem in our company.

Previous Early Career Projects

Aliyah's main responsibility while working with Intuit was to host Tech Talks, MBA Treks, and campus visits at Intuit Inc. She successfully planned and hosted 10-12 events during her time there. She has found a passion for hosting events for candidates and enjoys interacting with students at each event. While there she created the L.I.F.E. Scholarship program. Through her program the company award 5 sophomores/juniors $2,000 scholarship and a trip to California.

She identified and coordinated a Hackathon event with Intuit representatives. There she was able to connect with students, speak on behalf of the company, and enjoyed the different projects students developed. She also created personas about product management and marketing diverse candidates, to give insight to her team members about candidates and their needs. Lastly, she attended many events, career fairs, diversity programs, and more to help share her Intuit experience and interview diverse candidates.

Thrive Women's Empowerment: Founder and Chief Executive Officer

On June 14, 2017 Aliyah Benton Founded and became the Chief Executive Officer of Thrive Women's Empowerment. The purpose of this organization is to match early career professionals in the workforce with undergraduate students interested in their career field to help them grow professionally and as leaders through our program. The mission, vision, and values of the organization are below.

At Thrive Women's Empowerment we have many initiatives and programs to interact with our participants. Our mentors are located around the country and host monthly mentoring sessions with their assigned mentee. Our Division Leadership on campus host professional development, community service, and bonding programs based off of the interest of the full body members. We have many opportunities for our members to grow, rise, and thrive in everything that they do.

  • Design and update constitution and by-laws
  • Lead Recruitment Function and drive the recruitment strategy and recruitment evaluation

  • Lead and approve all programming, events, and division master calendar with the President and Vice President

Multimedia, Writing, & Design

Aliyah graduated May 2017 from North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism & Mass Communication. Below are examples of her journalism work, writing pieces, flyer/newsletter designs, and newspaper articles.

Throughout her time in her program she had the opportunity to write for A&T Register and worked for the African American Atelier as a marketing chairperson. She also created a photo story about the Day In The Life of an Aggie photography and editing done by Aliyah on iphone7 and Adobe Premiere. In her Senior year her article and designs were used in the 2017 JOMC Connection.
