It's been a busy week at Monkton Park as we approach the end of term. Firstly well done to all the Y6 children from Badgers class who did a fantastic class assembly on Thursday.
Thank you also to FOMPs who put together a wonderful disco for the children last night. We had a few tired looking faces this morning but I know they had a great time!
Please can we also remind you that the last day of term for the pupils next week is Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday the teaching staff will be taking part in 'Talk for Writing' training as part of a programme of learning which be rolled out next term.
Finally we would like to welcome the Blight family to Monkton Park who started with us on Thursday.
1960's Day (dressing up!)
Don't forget, Monday is our 50th Birthday. The children are invited to wear 1960's costumes. They will be taking part in crafts, plating bulbs, singing, dancing and ending the day with a whole school celebration.
Monkton Park Rocks
"Monkton Park Rocks" Facebook group will be out hiding 50 cake rocks to help celebrate the schools 50th Birthday on Monday. They will each have a year on that the school has been open. Have fun hunting after school and don’t forget to post on their Facebook page if you find one!
Secondary School Places
If your child is in Year 6 you must apply for a secondary school place for them. The deadline for applications is 31st October 2018.

International Food and Quiz night
FOMPS will be hosting an International Food and Quiz night on 16th November - get your team together and registration forms in, for a fun international social event!
FOMPS would like to thank all the Children who came along to the Jungle Beats disco yesterday. Hopefully you all had a great time. It was lovely to see that so many children did bring their own refillable bottles; this helped us reduce plastic cup waste by a good 40%! What a brilliant start! We will continue to encourage similar initiatives at future FOMPS events.
A special thank you goes out to Refill Chippenham (@refill_CPM) for donating the awesome and stylish refillable aluminium bottles for our competition. Refill is making carrying a reusable bottle and refilling from the tap the new normal. They now have over 13,000 Refill Stations in the UK, including Chippenham. You can download a free app to help you find all the refill stations from their website: https://refill.org.uk/
We would also like to thank Wiltshire Council who kindly lent us the recycling bags for the competition http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/rubbish-and-recycling-new-services and to the parents who kindly helped collect the bottles! The answer of the competition was 47 bottles – and the 4 winners were delighted with their prizes.
Thank you to all those who managed to get their Christmas card orders in by the deadline. This has allowed us to make a significant profit for the school. We are hoping to open an additional small window of opportunity to allow those who missed out to make a purchase too. We will provide more information shortly.
