What is an Output?

An output device is any device used to send data from a computer to another device or user. Most computer data output that is meant for humans is in the form of audio or video. Thus, most output devices used by humans are in these categories. Examples include monitors, projectors, speakers, headphones and printers.

What is a 3D Printer

The MP Select mini 3D Printer

A 3D printer allows the creation of a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by laying down many thin layers of a material in succession.

Inkjet printer

An Inkjet printer is a printer in which the characters are formed by minute jets of ink.

1) Low cost

2) High quality of output, capable of printing fine and smooth details

3) Capable of printing in vivid color, good for printing pictures

4) Easy to use

5) Reasonably fast

6) Quieter than dot matrix printer

7) No warm up time

1) Print head is less durable, prone to clogging and damage

2) Expensive replacement ink cartridges

3) Not good for high volume printing

4) Printing speed is not as fast as laser printers

5) Ink bleeding, ink carried sideways causing blurred effects on some papers

6) Aqueous ink is sensitive to water, even a small drop of water can cause blurring

7) Cannot use highlighter marker on inkjet printouts

Dot Matrix ptinter

Dot matrix printers, also referred to as impact printers, use technology different from laser and ink jet printers, which lets them print information through multiple page, carbon-copy forms in a single pass. Creating an instant copy of data lets you manage billing, shipping, and warehousing areas with efficiency.

Dot matrix printers are really less expensive. As they are so cheap it is easy to buy and use. The maintenance cost of dot matrix printer is also low. The cost of printing of dot matrix printer is also low.

The quality that dot matrix printer possesses is very low. Dot matrix printer enables color printing but the quality of that color printing is also low. And due to this low quality issues dot matrix printers are not suitable for many kind of print outs.

A flat panel screen that uses the liquid crystal display (LCD) technology and connects to a computer. Laptops have used LCD screens almost exclusively, and the LCD monitor is the standard display screen for desktop computers. By 2004, LCD desktop monitors outsold the traditional, bulky tube monitors.

Does not rely on phosphors

Easy disposal

Energy efficient, low-power

Excellent contrast

Immune to screen image burn-in

Lightweight and compact

Low flicker rates

Screens are available in a vast range of sizes

Sharp resolution and imagery

Superior resolution

Used in battery-powered electronics

Uses a smaller pixelated format

The color and contrast from various viewing angles is inconsistent

Features poor black on dark imagery

Motion blur is common

With brightness from backlighting, imagery may appear flat Pixel-based display may be stuck on screen Fixed resolution

Newer technology costs more

Imagery not as good with analog interface

CRT Monitor

The CRT monitor is the older, larger, and heavier version of the LCD monitors that we see today. A CRT monitor is a bowl-shaped screen made of a glass envelope containing an electron gun and a fluorescent screen that emits light when the gun releases electrons.

CRTs are less expensive than comparable displays using other display technologies.

CRTs have less sharp images and less colors compared to other monitors in the industry

Monitors for Computers

Resolution and screen sizes

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images displayed on your screen. The higher the resolution the better the screen looks.

Color Depth

Color depth is the amount of bits are in a pixel, for example a 16-bit game has 16 bits per pixel.

Common bits per pixel

A year 7 boy just moved and needs to print his homework. What printer should he buy and why?

He should buy a laser printer, this is because laser printers are easy to use, easy to setup, and the homework that he will print will come out very nice.

Jimmy is a gamer and he currently has a CRT monitor. Should he keep the CRT monitor or buy an LCD monitor?

I think he should buy a brand new LCD HD monitor (3840 pixels × 2160), this is because the monitor would be brighter, It will take up less space, and will display a all around better image.
