This weekend 6th April the chaplaincy team is taking a bus of years 9 & 10 students to the combined schools and teens Ministry Worship and Games night held at Hills Adventist College. A permission letter has been sent home with your students today. This is not a compulsory school event but a chaplaincy run social night.
Each term we want as a school community to come together in a Combined Chapel Service where parents are invited and encouraged to attend. This is also an opportunity for a parents morning tea to get to know one another in a social setting after Chapel. The first of these such events will commence on the 1st Friday of Term 2, Friday 3rd May, stay tuned for more information and we are looking forward to seeing you there.
As the end of the term comes to a close may I wish you, our students and staff a wonderful and blessed Easter break. If you're looking for a church to attend over the Easter weekend, I know that the Wahroonga and Fox Valley Churches would be delighted to have you join them for their Easter Saturday morning services. For more information about their Easter Services please contact the Chaplains.
Junior School Playground Open
The Junior School playground opened on Monday 1st April and the students have been so excited to be playing in their special area!! They were swinging, jumping, climbing and drawing with great vigor! The sandpit was a huge hit with many children building sand castles and playing with the toys.
A note to parents: If you are wearing high heels, please be aware that these will make holes in the soft fall area, so it would be greatly appreciated if you do not walk on this area in heels.

RETURN and EARN – 10c plastic bottles, containers and cans
We need your help! We are collecting eligible containers including plastic bottles, containers and cans to raise funds for sport equipment. Start collecting at home and bring your items to school to place them in the signed crate in the basement. Additionally, at lunch and recess, there will be small bins popping up around the school for students to deposit their lunch bottles, containers and cans. Every container counts!
*****Please note: there needs to be a barcode and ‘10c’ on the label. Due to safety reasons, we are unable to handle glass containers.

Beach Themed Dress-up Day
Friday of Week 8 (March 22) was a great day to be at school as we held our beach themed dress-up day. The primary school children (and their parents) had great fun creating some amazing costumes and we had a wonderful array of squids, mermaids, life savers, surfers and other beachy items. Each child that dressed up was suitably rewarded with a certificate and lemonade icy pole. A big thank you to students, parents and teachers for getting involved.

On the 28th of March, selected boys and girls from Years 5 and 6 went to the Greater Sydney SDA Touch Football Gala Day. They competed against a number of teams from the other Adventist Schools in the Greater Sydney area including Hills Adventist College, Mountain View Adventist College, Macarthur Adventist College and Hurstville Adventist School. WAS sent 2 Boy teams and 1 Girl team. The first boy team won 3 games. The second boys team won 1 game. The girls’ team was undefeated until the final game. It was a very close game, but congratulations went to Mountain View Adventist College. Despite the losses, everyone tried their best and had a fun time! Practise paid off! We still scored tries, intercepted the ball, won some games and there was plenty of laughter. In the end, everyone came out with a smile on their face, but there were also a few tears. We all want to say thank you to Mr Starrett, Mr Gates, Mr Ashby, Miss Sutton and Mrs Kanimako for being there to coach, supervise and support us!

Year 10 Visual Arts Excursion to ARTEXPRESS
On Monday, Year 10 students spent the day at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Students spent the morning walking through the ARTEXPRESS exhibition that showcases the artworks of HSC students from 2018. The artworks featured in the exhibition are in a range of styles and also a variety of concepts which was very inspiring for the students to see and provided students with a goal for their future HSC studies in Visual Arts.
The students also spent the afternoon in the Study Room at the Art Gallery, where they had a private viewing of a few of the Art Gallery’s wide collection of works including originals from photographer Max Dupain and artist Brett Whiteley. Students also spent time in the Study Room drawing and sketching artworks that had been an inspiration to them throughout the day. Thank you to the wonderful students who spent the day on the excursion, it was a great day to be inspired by art.
