Northwood Men's Track & Field All-Decade Team (2010-19)

Picking the all-decade teams for track & field was tricky - deciding between the performance levels from event to event is difficult. In this list, I tried to balance events across the board. It's a very impressive group of athletes!

(NOTE - this team is in alphabetical order)

Marcus Bennett (2010-13)

  • GLIAC Champion in the 110 hurdles at the 2011 Outdoor Championships
  • Competed at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships
  • Stands second in program history in the 60 meter hurdles (7.83)
  • Ranks third in school history in the 110 hurdles (14.27)
  • Also stands on the all-time performance list in the indoor high jump (1.83 meters), the indoor long jump (6.83 meters), the 400 meter hurdles (56.78) and outdoor long jump (6.85 meters)

Craig Borsenik (2008-11)

  • Name appears five times in the Northwood record book
  • Ranks second in school history in the weight throw (19.34) and the discus (53.04)
  • All-American in the discus
  • Was ranked nationally in the discus, weight throw and hammer throw at times in his career
Many of Craig's best performances actually came in the 2000's. He gets the nod for the 2010's for being a consistent, top performer in the throws for all four years of his career.

Paul Evans (2014-17)

  • School-record holding in the weight throw (20.11)
  • Also holds records in the discus (55.15) and the hammer throw (62.45).
  • Record in the hammer throw is 3.87 meters further than second place
  • Three-time All-American (weight throw twice, hammer throw)
  • Six-time NCAA championship participant
  • Named CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2017

Will Fulton (2007-10)

  • Finished eighth at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championship despite being injured
  • Entered the 2010 Championship ranked No. 2 in the country
  • Tied for second in school history in the indoor 60 meter dash (6.76)
  • Also ranks on the performers list in the indoor 200 (22.14), outdoor 100 (10.64) and the outdoor 200 (21.75)

Rami Gharsalli (2017-19)

  • Six-time All-American, earning the honors twice in the 60 meter hurdles, the 110 meter hurdles and the 4X100 meter relay
  • Holds school record in the 60 meter hurdles (7.81)
  • Also stands second in the 110 meter hurdles (13.92), trailing only NU Hall of Famer Lionel Campbell (13.87)
  • Ranks second in school history in the javelin (56.08 meters)
  • Won GLIAC Championships in the 60 meter hurdles, the 110 hurdles as well as the javelin
  • Earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors in 2018 & 2019

Paris Gooch (2008-11)

  • GLIAC Champion in the indoor long jump (2011)
  • Earned All-Region honors in the long jump (2011)
  • Stands fourth in school history in the indoor long jump (7.12 meters)
  • Also ranks third in the outdoor long jump (7.12 meters), third in the outdoor triple jump (13.09 meters), fifth in the indoor long jump (7.12 meters) and fifth in the triple jump (13.48 meters)

Mason Phillips (2018-20)

  • Has earned All-America honors seven times in two seasons
  • Named GLIAC Track Athlete of the Meet at the 2019 Indoor Championship
  • Three-time GLIAC Champion
  • Holds seven school records
Just two seasons into his career, Mason is one of the best athletes in Northwood history. Already off to a fast start this season, he has a chance to be the greatest track athlete in school history.

Brian Patrick (2018-20)

  • Set school records in both the 3,000 meters (8:24.20) and the 5,000 meters (14:21.88) during the 2019 indoor season
  • Holds school record in the 5,000 by more than 17 seconds
  • Part of school-record holding Distance Medley Relay team from 2019
  • Ranked in eight different events on the Northwood performance list
Between cross country and his performance in track, Brian's 2018-19 season may be the greatest in school history for a distance runner.

Enock Rono (2013-14)

  • Holds Northwood school record in the 800 meters indoors (1:49.09)
  • Also part of school record 4X400 meter relay indoors
  • Finished second in the 800 at the 2013 GLIAC Indoor Championship
  • Was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year at the 2013 GLIAC Indoor Championship
  • Placed 11th in the 800 at the 2013 NCAA Indoor Championship

Jeremy Wilchcombe (2014-16)

  • Earned All-America honors in the triple jump, placing eighth at the 2015 outdoor championships
  • GLIAC Champion in the triple jump in 2015
  • Holds the school record in the triple jump both indoors (14.56 meters) and outdoors (15.13 meters)
  • Also ranks in the Northwood record book in the long jump both indoors and outdoors
