This is the first year that Spinning Dot Theatre participated in Ann Arbor's 4th of July Parade! We saw lots of familiar faces and passed out over 800 flyers to new folks, and of course plenty of candy! It was a fantastic opportunity for us to get more involved with the community and spread some Spinning Dot Magic while having tons of fun doing it! Thank you to all the volunteers that made puppets and marched with us in the parade!

Special delivery: New Baby Theatre! This month we are working with a group of current company members and guest artists to devise a selection of original Theatre for the Very Young productions! July 27-29 we'll be previewing these new performances in coffee shops, daycares, and other spaces near YOU! Preview performances are an exciting and crucial component to our process, and these newly developed pieces will turn into a season of Baby Theatre coming in 2019!
Our 2018 Repertory Company show "The Mountain" by Chelsea Woolley premieres this August! The Mountain deals with anti-immigrant feelings from the lens of two eight-year-olds, a quiet Canadian boy and a spirited Arab girl, on a Canadian playground. The play is based in playful yet poignant realism between the two primary characters - highlighted with imaginary adventures that allows the banter between the children to deepen and transform not only their friendship, but their views of the world. Through these beautiful and unique characters, Woolley is able to touch upon the universals of childhood, the need for home, friendship, otherness, and trust. This show features, new company member, Aya Aziz as Aya; Spinning Dot set builder turned performer, Forrest Hejkal as Nicholas; and Repertory Company favorite Big Fire as a music composer and magic maker! Join us for this magical and poignant production: Aug 16 & 17 at 6pm @ Theatre Nova; Aug. 18, 25 at 10am & 7pm, Aug. 19, 26 at 2pm @ Riverside Arts Center; Aug. 24 at 7pm @ Riverside Off Center (Fly Creative Center).
