Marco Polo & the Silk Road

1.) The reopening of the Silk Road helped spark the Renaissance because trades started to increase. People also started learning about more cultures. At the begging when Marco Polo started writing about his travels around the world, people didn't believe. But soon people started getting curious about the places he went to. People started learning more and more about places they have never been to.

Italian Trade Cities~Florence

Medici Family

-Medici did artwork on buildings to make them look beautiful.

-Medici paid architectures to redesign the buildings in Florence.

-Bankers in Florence kept money for merchants from all over the Europe. The bankers made money by charging interest.

-For education, Medici created libraries and collected books for his bankers.

~Rediscovering the Past~

The Greek and Romans classical ideas helped shape the development of the Renaissance because they helped revive writing. Also new was an emphasis on people as individuals. It states "What was the meaning of being reborn? Interest in Greek Roman writings was revived." The ideas of Romans and Greeks were very different from the ideas of the Middle Ages.

Statues and Scholars

Scholars seeking to escape the Turks fled to Italy. In their luggage these scholars carried rare, precious works of literature.

Renaissance Art

Renaissance art was very different from medieval art. Renaissance artists use new to techniques to make their paintings more realistic.

Leonardo da Vinci

~This article talks about Leonardo's da Vinci's past, for example his parents and there lifestyle.

~Another thing it talks about is his early careers before he bacame a famouse artist.

~It also talks about some of Vinci's famous art, for instance the Mona Lisa.

~The last thing it talks about is early life and training.

Leonardo da Vinci contributed greatly to the fields of art, science and invention during the Italian Renaissance.

Michelangelo

This video talks about Michelangelo's greatest art pieces throughout his life. Michelangelo even accomplished painting a six thousand square foot ceiling, painting it took about four years to accomplish.

Paper and Printing (J.G)

A worker could fit letters, and press a sheet of paper against the letters.

The first printed book was a Bible printed in the Latin language in about 1455. Soon, some thinkers began to call for the Bible to be translated into common languages.

Renaissance Writing (W.S)

William Shakespeare's writing attracted many people world wide because he wrote more than 30 comedies, tragedies, and histories. People enjoy the beauty of Shakespeare's language and his understanding of humanity. Shakespeare was such an important writer that he even influenced the English language. Eventhough Shakespeare was the greatest English writer, he was most famous for his great plays.
