The definition of artificial intelligence is "the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages".

With the invention of computers and machines, the capability of preforming various tasks grew very fast. This was a branch of Computer Science which was named Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence meant computers and machines were being created as intelligent as human beings.

The father of Artificial Intelligence, John McCarthy, said "It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs". This means that Artificial Intelligence is "making a computer, a computer-controlled robot". It could also be a software think intelligently, which is similar to how humans think.

Computer Science, Biology, Psychology, Linguistics, Mathematics, and Engineering all contribute to Artificial Intelligence. These are needed for Artificial Intelligence since the computers or machines are created with humans characteristics and intelligence. Computers are created with reasoning, learning, and problem solving just like the characteristics us humans have.

I think Artificial Intelligence will impact media and communications now and in the future in a positive and negative way.

Some advantages in Artificial Intelligence are that there are robots to help us solve every day problems like drones, drive less cars, etc. They replace the risky human elements in jobs like putting out fires and construction work. It also is an advancement in technology because thing like artificial limbs can be created to help when limbs are amputated. If a limb gets amputated, a new artificial limbs that helps you can be put on like a new leg in Terry Fox's case.

Some disadvantages in Artificial Intelligence is that sometimes, Artificial Intelligence is programed and used to kill like weapons. These weapons in the wrong hands can cause mass casualties. Also, can lead to war if in the wrong hands. These weapons are difficult to turn off which means losing control of these weapons could be dangerous.
