Cultivating Ideas – Growing Relationships – Producing Results

Each year, the SEPC strives to curate an impactful series of industry programs and networking events for our members. The SEPC Virtual Garden is our newest platform through which we will continue to keep members abreast of the latest developments in produce—whether those are happening in the soil, in the cloud, or anywhere in between.

Through the SEPC Virtual Garden, we have begun planting the seeds from our founding pillars – Networking, Innovation, Community, and Education – so that our members will reap the benefits of harvesting quality experiences guaranteed to increase the value of their membership.

In case you missed them, several sessions are already available on demand!

COMMUNITY

It’s never too early to begin planning for this year’s #GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to give.

This year, #GivingTuesday is November 30, 2021!

If you feel so led to make a contribution, each of our charitable partners would greatly appreciate your donation.

Community Updates

Our SEPC family partnered with Society of St. Andrew to provide transportation and a donation of 40,000 lbs. of fresh produce to aid those affected by Hurricane Ida. A huge thank you to the following companies that donated product for this distribution.

  • Ark Foods
  • Caruso USA
  • Mack Farms
  • Nickey Gregory Company
  • Shuman Farms
  • Sunkist
“There are no words to express how grateful we are and how grateful the people of New Orleans will be to receive this. This has been a God-led thing from beginning to end - and when I met via zoom with the five pastors that will be distributing this food in the hardest hit areas in and around New Orleans, they were all in tears when I told them what they were getting. Their main comment was ‘people just don't know what you go through in a hurricane until you go through it yourself - but thank God for people like you who respond without knowing the impact’ That pretty much says it all. Your kindness touches many lives.” ~ Barbara Sayles, Florida Regional Director, Society of St. Andrew
EDUCATION

The Vorhees Vision Scholarship was created to reward the achievements of young individuals who demonstrate a true entrepreneurial spirit in their lives as they pursue their educational goals. This scholarship is named in honor of the late Terry L. Vorhees, founder and first Executive Director of the Southeast Produce Council. Because of his vision and efforts, the Southeast Produce Council became and remains one of the best resources in the produce industry today.

Scholarship Details

One college-aged student (graduating high school senior or current college student) will receive a one-time scholarship of $7,500 to their enrolling college/university.

The application can only be submitted online through our link which will be provided beginning November 29, 2021.

November Trivia Question

BE THE FIRST TO ANSWER CORRECTLY AND WIN A $25 GIFT CARD!

This Thanksgiving favorite is often confused with an unrelated tuber that originated elsewhere. And although it’s ranked as one of the most nutritious vegetables, it’s probably not quite as healthy when covered with brown sugar and marshmallows…but it sure is yummy! Can you name it?
