Once upon a time, a man named Mr. Stickman was taking a walk around Stick Town’s neighbourhood. Out of the blue, it started to rain like cats and dogs. While trying to seek shelter at the bus stop, Mr. Stickman met a very unexpected magical creature, known as the Squirrel-body Bear. They fell in love instantly. Although some passerby managed to capture the moment but the footage was very soon taken down from social media by magic.

Anti-drug abuse campaign should receive a high attention from the society due to the drug abuse cases around the globe are increasing in the fast pace. Many people will not see drug abuse as a serious problem in their community because they did not experience and witness the seriousness of the activity with one’s own eyes within their social circle. Perhaps, when you indifferent to what was happening around you, your most beloved person is one of the people who involved in drug abuse activities.

When we heard the word ‘drug’, the first thought in our mind is usually thinking of cocaine, heroin, marijuana and so on; which would bring our health to risk. Nevertheless, some of the drugs are very helpful in the medical field. The drugs can be natural or chemical substances which will affect the way one’s body function, and it is often used in medical field for diagnosis, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of a disease or relief of discomfort. A legal or medical drug can be useful for preventive treatments, yet, it also can be harmful and addictive if one misused it. Many medicines that use to treat illness can also become a drug of abuse for people who take them with the intention of getting high and feeling good instead of following the doctor’s order to take the medicine for curing purpose. The cough and cold medicines are the most common drug abuse that we can see in our daily life as people tend to ignore the instructions and take the amount that exceeds the limit which a person can take in a time. The after-effect of these incorrect way of using drugs will be more severe than one expected.

1. Effects on Body

Today, the number of death caused by illicit drug use has increased dramatically. The compulsive and excessive used of habit forming drugs which lead to drug addiction and dependence, severe psychological injuries and death. According to National Institute of Health (n.d.), pleasure, which scientist call reward, is a powerful biological force which leads one to do something again when one does it pleasurable. Therefore, there will be changes in the brain in fundamental and long-lasting ways if one prolongs drug use. The long-lasting changes might be the major component of the addiction and it will affect one’s mental health.

A person who constantly depends on drugs in order to reach the high and reward feeling will gradually showing the signs and symptoms of drug abuse and drug addiction. Although different drugs have different physical and psychological effects. Drug use can alter one’s ability of focus and form coherent thoughts. When a person has a sudden change of their behavior, it could be indicating that the person has some relation to drug abuse. When one started depends on the substance to get the ‘reward’ feeling, the behavior will have a dramatically change if there is no drugs for them to depend on. Houchins, J. (n.d.) reviewed the symptoms and signs of drug abuse in DrugAbuse.com showing the interchange behavior of a drug abuser included increase aggression or irritation, change in attitude, change in social networking, change in habits or priorities, lethargy, depression, financial problems as well as involvement in criminal activity.

In conclusion, drug use can have a wide range of short- and long-term, direct and indirect effects. These effects often depend on the specific drug or drugs used, how they are taken, how much is taken, the person's health, and other factors. Therefore, one should stay away from drug use in order to avoid the circumstances that might harm the rest of your life and the people around you.
