The internet can be a very dangerous place. Unless you know how to be safe. Social media is a great way to share whats going on in you life and to show friends and family whats up. Unfortunately, there are lots of bad people in our world. People are constantly being targeted for money and personal info. But don't worry! There are many things that one can take to have fun and be safe online.
The definition of hacking is, to use a computer to gain unauthorized access to data in a system. People are constantly being hacked. It's not only when people just fall victim to it, sometimes people make a very easy password and makes it easy to have their info gotten in to.
A 2015 study by TeleSign had shocking results about the subject. The study showed that every 2 out of 5 people: had a stolen password, had an account stolen and/or received a notice that their personal information had been compromised. They also found that 7 in 10 people don't trust passwords to protect their online accounts. Another thing that TeleSign found was that 47% of people are currently using passwords as old as 5 years. The results of the study are crazy and something needs to be done. Here's how......
Twitter is a very popular social media platform. It is a great way to look at your favorite sports teams, local and global news, and many more things. An issue with it is that some people don't know how to become private, so her is how: Open app> Me> Settings gear> Setting and privacy> Privacy and safety> Protect my Tweets. Swipe the bar on and you are now private.
Here are some ways to have a secure password: Use a mix of UPPERCASE and lowercase letters; Use things like numbers and symbols; Use at least 8-12 characters (not too long); No obvious substitutions (ex. h0use) Don't use simple words Easy to remember things, to you; Don’t share your password
The makers of social media made it safer to become private. There are customizable ways in the setting so social media apps that make your account so that only people who follow you can see what you post. You also want to make sure that you only allow people to follow you that you know, in order to secure safety for yourself.
Most, if not all social media applications give you the chance to make yourself private. The importance of being private on social media is huge. Social media is a great place to show friends and family what you are up to, nobody else needs to see. Many people fall victim to things like identity theft and hacking all the time. With what you have learned, you should not be one of them.
