RING PATTERNS a look back at October 2017

The fall specialty season reaped an October harvest of 10 specialty shows. Those shows were held in California, Colorado, Kentucky and Nebraska. The highest number of collies entered was at the Collie Club of Kentucky circuit, for Judges Phyllis Autrey and Carl Williford with 65. They also took stock of the largest entry, both of whom surveyed 61 collies – Autrey: 34 smooths, 27 roughs (the month's largest number of that variety) and Williford: 35 smooths (the month's largest number of that variety), 26 roughs. Williford's entry was also notable for the fact that it produced the largest entry of smooths shown at an independent specialty so far this year.

Harvest festival king and queen: The month saw eight collies – seven bitches and one dog – six roughs and two smooths, awarded Best of Breed – with two of those taking multiple wins: CH Overland Ultralight (D) and GCHS Dea Haven's Ice Blue Dream (B).
