Where was Mr Franklin born ? How was his childhood ? Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706, in Boston in what was then known as the Massachusetts Bay Colony. His father, English-born soap and candle maker Josiah Franklin, had seven children with first wife, Anne Child, and 10 more with second wife, Abiah Folger. Ben was his 15th child and youngest son. Benjamins education was limited and ended at age 10 he was an avid reader and taught himself to become a skilled writer and traveled to london,england and got a job as a printer. He returned to Philadelphia in 1726 then in 1728 he opened a printing shop
In 1776, he was part of the five-member committee that helped draft the Declaration of Independence, in which the 13 American colonies declared their freedom from British rule. That same year, Congress sent Franklin to France to enlist that nation's help with the Revolutionary War.
Against stamp act knew it was avoidable. Kept buying stamps from john hughes. Almost ruined repitation and killed hughes.
