Stay connected with the latest from Harris!

First Day of School: Our first day of school is Thursday, August 1, 2019. The first bell is at 7:40 AM and dismissal is at 2:10 PM. This will be a regular full day.

Registration: Thank you for registering! We are almost to 100% registration for returning Harris students.

Meet-the-Teacher Night: Please join us for Meet-Your-Teacher Night At Harris on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, from 4-5:30 pm.

New Staff: Harris is excited to welcome some new staff to the Harris family this year:

  • Katie Hall (School Counselor)
  • Brittany Meek (3rd Grade)
  • Katie Shockley (1st Grade)

Attendance: We encourage all of our students to attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good school attendance is important in helping students achieve academic and social/emotional success.

Perfect Attendance: This is defined as ALL day of EVERY day. We understand that this is an important achievement for many students, but nothing is more important than your student’s health, so do not send them to school if they are ill simply so that they can receive this award at the end of the year.

Parent Volunteers: Our volunteer profile form is available for the 19-20 school year. Just click the link below! You have to be approved to work as a classroom volunteer and to chaperone field trips. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance of volunteering.

Lunch Accounts: You may put lunch money in your child's account at www.ezschoolpay.com. There is a small fee and you will need your child's student number found in PowerSchool. Lunch money may also be submitted by check. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a "block" on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. Please talk to your child if you do not want them purchasing extra items.

Book Rental: Book rental payment is due the first week of school. If you are on a deferred payment, then the due date will be about one month from now. You will also be able to pay at Meet-Your-Teacher Night on July 31st or send a check to school with your child on the first day of school. Click on the button for the fees.

Transportation: If your child will have a different way to go home at the end of the day and you know ahead of time, please write a note or email the teacher. If it is a last minute change, please call the Harris school office by 1:30 pm on that day. After school begins, we will send home information with your child on how to sign up for School Dismissal Manager, which is an app based program that allows you to easily make dismissal and attendance changes from your devices. We will go live with this program as our primary way to make transportation changes sometime near August 12. Please keep an eye out for this paperwork and an email invitation.

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders: For the safety of our students and families, please ONLY use the car line to drop off and pick up. If you need to walk with your child to the entrance, you will need to park in the north parking lot (closest to the playground) and walk your child around using the sidewalk. Do not walk through the car line to pick up and drop off your child. Thank you for helping keep every child safe. Finally, students entering and exiting the car should do so against the curb (passenger side). This helps ensures that students are not walking in front of a moving car.

School Bus Stop Arm Safety: Did you know that the laws in Indiana have changed and are now tougher. Click below for more info.

PTO: Our PTO will have a table set up and information available for you at our Meet-Your-Teacher night. Please connect with them and find out about the ways you can support the students at Harris. If you need to contact our PTO, you may reach them by sending a message to gcharrispto@gmail.com.

PowerSchool: Due to a recent update to this system, you may be asked to update your password when logging in. If you need assistance, please contact our main office.
