La Dolce Vita July 2017

The Sweet Life

A summer trip to visit Rome & Florence, Italy.

This past July I was lucky enough to take a trip to Italy with two of my friends. We made arrangements on our own rather than taking a complete tour, and at first we were a bit nervous. However, everything turned out fine and we had an amazing trip. We stayed in Airbnb homes in Rome and Florence, and did a lot of walking. There was so much to see and do that I would love to go back again.

Trip Advisor was a great help in figuring out what to do while we were in town. We used them to book our tours of the Vatican, take a trip to Pompeii, and schedule a wine tasting. As far as speaking the language, our Italian was very poor, but we found that if we at least attempted some of the language (and explained we were not skilled), then the locals were very friendly and helpful.

The food was perfect - there is not a single meal that we had that was ever less than excellent. I ate gelato (Italian ice cream) every day. Below are just a few of the pictures I took on the trip. We had good weather - it was summer so it was hot but we were prepared for the heat.
