You can Help MCC's Relay for Life Team Meet Their Goal!

You can help MCC's Relay for Life Team fight against cancer by donating your spare change. There are two donation cups on campus: one located in the library and one at the information desk. No donation is too big or too small. You can also make donations by clicking the link below. Thank you for helping MCC's Relay for Life Team meet their goal of $1,000!

Also as a fundraiser, MCC's Relay for Life Team will be taking orders for 2019 Relay for Life t-shirts and insulated tumblers now though April 15th. All money will be due no later than April 15th. Please see the flyer below for product and pricing information.

Black History Month Concludes
Dr. Mae C. Jemison

This is the final installment of Yourspace's Black History Month articles. Pictured left is Rosa Parks, a well-known civil rights activist most famous for her refusal to give up her seat at the back of a bus (the "colored section") for a white person when the "white section" had been filled. She also worked with a new minister in Montgomery, Ala., Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. (in the background of her picture) in the civil rights movement. King would later gain national prominence and win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Pictured above is Dr. Mae Jemison, the first African-American astronaut. She is a medical doctor, a dancer, and holds nine honorary doctorates in science, engineering, letters, and humanities.

Jemison said she was inspired by Martin Luther King Jr. To her, Dr. King's dream was not just a dream, but a call to action. "When I think of Martin Luther King, I think of attitude, audacity, and bravery." Jemison thought the civil rights movement was all about breaking down the barriers to human potential. "The best way to make dreams come true is to wake up." (Wikipedia)

We Are Because They Were

A Black History Month Program

Please join fellow students, faculty, and staff on Wednesday, February 27 at 11 AM in the Blair Auditorium as we bring Black History Month to a close with this inspiring program.

Spotlight Your Favorite Culture

Montgomery Community College's Cultural Diversity Team is hosting Diversity Day on Thursday, March 28 from 9 - 11. Here's your chance to learn about a new culture or teach others about your culture.

The Diversity Team challenges groups to participate by learning about a culture and hosting a table to present the culture on the day of the event. You can use interactive displays, artifacts (if you can get them), music, pictures, food, or even test visitors' knowledge with guessing games. If you make or bring food, the Diversity Team will provide "taster" cups for each table. You will need to provide any toothpicks or other eating utensils (if needed). Email Diana Sanchez at sanchezd6577@montgomery.edu for more details or click the link below to sign up.
