A diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and the American Board of Oral Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, Dr. Miles has been selected as one of the “TOP CLINICANS IN CE” for the past 16 years by Dentistry Today.
He has authored over 140 scientific articles, 6 radiology textbooks and the best-selling atlas on cone beam imaging, "Atlas of Cone Beam Imaging for Dental Applications". He has a website for teaching the dental team cone beam imaging at doctorconebeam.com, and digital imaging at learndigital.net.
Dr. Miles has a full-time practice in Fountain Hills, AZ. To date he has read close to 28,000 cone beam scans.
He has held positions of Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH). an adjunct professorship in oral and maxillofacial radiology at the University of Texas Dental School at San Antonio. He has been Chair of the Department of Oral Health Sciences at the University of Kentucky, the graduate program director of Dental Diagnostic Sciences at Indiana University, as positions at the University of Connecticut and Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Miles received his Bachelor of Arts and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. After practicing dentistry for 6 years he attended the University of Texas where he attained his Certificate in Dental Diagnostic Sciences (1982), and Master of Science degree in Dental Diagnostic Sciences from the UTHSCSA Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in 1983.
Dr. Miles has been a consultant to many imaging and practice management companies, and a test construction consultant for the National Dental Examining Board for the ADA. Dr. Miles received the “Civism” award from the Department of the United States Navy in 2002, the highest civilian award the USN can bestow. He also received the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry “Alumni of Distinction” award in 2003. He holds 4 patents on x-ray technology.
