Term 4 Week 10 2019 Newsletter

We have had much to celebrate this year in what has been an extraordinary year at Anzac Park Public School. As the year draws to a close I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements, contributions and commitment of our amazing school community. Our Mountain Top Celebration was a wonderful culmination of all that is special about our school and the delight that each child had in sharing their learning last week was a highlight of our school year. Thank you to the P&C for coordinating the food and drinks, as well as our teaching staff for all your efforts in preparing for this special night.

Semester 2 Student Reports

Semester 2 reports were published on Monday. The report has been put together with careful consideration of your child’s performance, effort and progress throughout the semester. Progress judgements have been made by teachers based on work samples, formal assessments, observation, daily classwork and conversations with your child. It has been wonderful to read about the gains all of our students have made and the high levels of effort they have put into achieving their learning goals. The report format has been designed to outline the program of study your child has undertaken in each learning area and assess their level of achievement against expected achievement standards. We hope you find your child’s report informative and that it is a positive experience sharing in their achievements and looking at their future learning goals.

Reports are available through the Sentral Parent Portal. Portal access provides parents with access to attendance data as well as PDF copies of semester reports. Reports can be printed and downloaded through the portal. Parents should now be registered through the Parent Portal.

2020 Anzac Park Team

We currently have over 700 students enrolled at Anzac Park for the 2020 school year. This will be an increase to 32 classes in 2020, including our two MC support classes. This term we have been welcoming some new members to our team. It is so exciting to see our school grow and to welcome some amazing new teachers and support staff to our team. It is at this time that we also farewell a few staff members including Mrs Tara Simmonds, Mrs Kate Justelius-Wright, Mr Jacob Skelly, Mr Will Collins, Mrs Megan Harlick and Mr Aidan Baker.

Forming 2020 Classes

As we need to wait until the beginning of the 2020 school year to finalise enrolments and staffing, students will return to their 2019 classes on Wednesday 29 January for a few days. We anticipate that we will form 2020 classes on Friday 31 January. While I appreciate children and parents are excited to join their new teacher and class as soon as possible, it is far better to wait a couple of days rather than settle children into classes and then have to make changes if our student numbers alter. At this stage, our student enrolment numbers are extremely variable meaning we will need to wait until the first week back in 2020 to confirm numbers, staffing and classes. I appreciate your patience and understanding with this matter.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A school is so much more than the learning programs, classrooms, students and teachers. It is a community and we certainly could not have achieved all that we have this year without the incredible support of our parents and wider community. Some of these wonderful people include;

  • The scripture and ethics teachers who volunteer their time every week throughout the year
  • The many, many parents who have assisted in classrooms to support students and assist teachers with a multitude of tasks
  • The dedicated members of the P&C. Your efforts and activities are too many to list but from fundraising to social activities to supporting school events, we appreciate your efforts and could not have done it all without you.

As the year comes to an end I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all the children, parents and staff who have made 2019 such a productive and successful year at Anzac Park. On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone for making my year as Principal such a happy one. Your support and encouragement has been endless and so appreciated. I feel so lucky and proud to be leading our great school into the future and am very much looking forward to an exciting year in 2020. Until then, I wish all of our families a very safe, happy and restful holiday and I look forward to seeing you next year.
