Music For Youth Proms
On 06 November the York Music Forum Youth Jazz Orchestra performed at the prestigious Music For Youth Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in front of an 4,000 strong audience. The Music for Youth Proms is an annual event ‘to celebrate innovative and creative music-making from some of the most energetic, brilliant young musicians from across the UK’ and competition for places is intense.
The programme showcases the very best of the youth groups from around the country all of whom have demonstrated how good they are at the National Festival in Birmingham in July.
The Jazz Orchestra has shown itself to be one the best bands of its type in the country despite having only existed for 4 years. The York Music Forum Youth Jazz Orchestra is one of many youth music groups run by the York Music Forum which provides opportunities for young musicians in the city to play in ensembles or sing in choirs.
