Broadcasting: From no time to prime time with Atlantic Link An Atlantic Link case story

Leading up to the big Centennial commemoration of the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2017, Atlantic Link played an integral part in enabling, organizing and producing two TV specials of “Hammerslag” from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

”Hammerslag” is a weekly Danish TV format aired by Denmark’s national broadcasting corporation, DR, which is funded by the levying of a broadcast receiving license fee, thereby, accessible to the vast majority of Danish population.

The two specials managed to highlight both the local culture, the beautiful nature, the amazing beaches and the Danish history as well as the luxurious (hotel) properties that is found all across the U.S. Virgin Islands (former Danish colony).

The timing of the TV specials was ideal: Due to the historical Centennial, the Danish interest in the islands was incredibly high, and the TV specials managed to facilitate an emphasis of the historical circumstances as well as a desire to visit the islands as we made sure that the destination was the focal point of the TV specials at all times.

The TV specials aired around Christmas in 2016 and reached a total of 1,345,000 viewers in Denmark.
