2015 Land of Enchantment Fly-In (LOEFI) EAA Chapter 179

Held at Double Eagle Airport II on August 29, 2015

The gates opened at 7am and before long we had a great crowd in attendance.

There were outstanding planes everywhere for the attendees to see. They came in from all around.

This Carbon Cub was flown in from Arizona by Rick Bosshardt of SunCountry Cubs
This SubSonex Personal Jet was flown in from Moriarity, NM by CFI Bill Hill. You too can build this jet from a kit!
This speed record holding Ercoupe came in from Santa Rosa, NM
This de Havilland Beaver flew in from Santa Fe, NM

The Albuquerque Police Department, Bernalillo County Sheriff Department, KOB-TV, and the New Mexico State Police put their helicopters on display.

Albuquerque's Bombardiers Car Club rocked the show with their fantastic classic cars and trucks.

The event kicked off with the Civil Air Patrol cadets raising the colors as the crowd looked on.

Of the many pilots who flew their planes to the event, some entered their planes for judging. The planes that follow won top honors in their categories.

Best Homebuilt: Jerry Wymer’s 2011 Harmon Rocket
Best Vintage: Cindy Crawford’s 1953 Beechcraft T-34 based at Gallup, NM
Best Warbird: Phil Phillips’ L-19/ O-1 Bird Dog
Best Light Sport: Jerry Jacksha’s 2009 Skycycle Trike

Between the pilot workshops, vendor and information booths, and speakers, there were lots of opportunities for education and to gather information about all things aviation.

And the always-popular Chile Flight Formation Flying Team did some crowd-pleasing flyovers

Lots of food was served to lots of people.
