Garnet Sports Update March 13, 2017

We hope everyone had a great time off for spring break. Here's a quick look at what the Garnet teams did over the break. We'll be back with a full Garnet Sports Update next week.

Baseball's Conor Elliot (left) slides in safely to score the walk-off run in the Garnet's 3-2 11th inning win over Rivier to open the spring break trip. Swarthmore went 6-4 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Men's Golf opened up its spring season at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia with a tri-match against Coastal Georgia and Villanova. Michael Chen (right) led Swarthmore with a 79.

Track & Field competed at the UNC-Wilmington Seahawk Invitational with Kayla Camacho (right) finishing at the top of her heat and registering a 12th-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.11.

Freshman Lilly Price competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships during break at ran the mile in 5:03.04.

Men's Track & Field also kicked off the outdoor season at the Seahawk Invitational. Andrew Jansen (right) finished eighth in discus and 11th in shot put and also recorded the school's second-longest hammer throw.

Men's Tennis competed in Virginia and California over spring break against some of the top teams in the country. John Larkin (left) had three wins at No. 2 doubles with Blake Oetting and had a win in singles too.

Women's Tennis traveled to the Lone Star State and earned a win over No. 39 Texas-Tyler 5-4. Freshman Emma Kassan (right) went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-1 at No. 2 doubles with Anna Scheibmeir.

Men's Lacrosse split its two games in Clearwater, Florida, falling to Catholic but rebounding to a 12-6 win over a then-undefeated Rhodes College team. Matt Johnson (right) scored five goals and had three assists in the week.

Eliza Wainwright (right) tallied nine goals in two games last week. Swarthmore enjoyed a week of warm practice in Hilton Head, S.C. and a 16-4 win over Cazenovia. The Garnet returned to Pennsylvania and beat Lebanon Valley 11-5.

Softball went 6-2 in a successful trip to Fort Myers, Florida. The Garnet had 12 extra-base hits including freshman Emilie Morse's (right) home run against Eastern Nazarene. Swarthmore also pulled off a dramatic come-from-behind win against Pitt-Bradford, scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the walk-off.

Emily Bowman earned Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts in the circle.
