The Era of Good Feeling Anthony Vazquez

People in the early 1800´s were new to creating their own ideas, such as a free country. They proved to the British that they could start a country on there own without there help, by defeating their country in a war. By completing their goal to establish a free country they gained a lot of pride in being an American. They had just created a new country and is proud of doing so. They showed their pride by creating patriotic songs, and making a flag to show they where independent from Great Britain.

During the Era of Good Feelings James Monroe was the president. He was president from 1758 to 1831, and was the fifth U.S. President. He oversaw major western expansion in the U.S. and made the U.S. Foreign Policy better in 1823 with the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine was a warning to European Countries against further colonization in the Western Hemisphere. Monroe wanted to combine former Federalists party with the Republican party as a start to eliminating both parties to create one big party.

Before 1750 wealthy Americans imported most of their artworks and home furnishings from England. As more artists arrived in the U.S. they started to realize how beautiful the country was and was inspired by the landscape. So they took what they saw and painted it on a canvas. They stuck more to nature and an landscape which was different because most painters would mostly do paint people. Some American artists admire the sophisticated styles of Europe. They brought European traditions to America.

By the time of the American Revolution which was from 1775 to 1783, the American writers had gone further than the Puritan writing style and its religious ideas. The Puritans were a group of English Protestants during the 16th and 17th century. They wanted to "purify" the Church of England from its Catholic practices. They Americans haal fascinations where with science, nature, freedom, and innovation. The developed styles of writing that where from American experiences. The people of the colonies made their own way of speaking no longer speaking the more the style that British writers used.

Ballroom dances are very . Music was just now being performed in other places other then churches. Songs where performed out of church to but most of the time I just hear older songs that were recreated with new lyrics. With music growing events such as ballrooms became more popular. The females would pull there dresses up a bt to about there ankles to show off there footwork. The slaves would combine white music with African American rhythms. These two mixed where called spirituals. They would play these song with instruments they invented which were the drums, the violin and the banjo. They would square dance which was a less fancy dance they would do at cotillions.

Known as a frontiersman, a folk hero, and a congressman Davy Crockett was one of the most celebrated figures in American history during this time. He represented American Individualism by explaining the American life, and the rough american lands. He was writing about

The American System was a plan to strengthen and unify the government. There were three parts to Henry Clay's System. Those 3 parts where internal improvements, protective tariffs, and chartering the Second bank of United States. Under his system the government would deposit its funds in the bank, accept bank's notes as payments for government land, and taxes. The Protective tariffs the American system would be increasing the taxes of imported goods from Britain, so consumers would buy the cheaper American products. The money from the Tariffs would go towards fixing things in the colonies like roads.

Some people might not consider this the Era of Good Feelings because the slaves didn't haven freedom. The Slaves wouldn't think of this as the era of good feelings because they were beaten, taken away from their families, Sold and auctioned off, and had to work all day. They usually worked in outdoor chores and they had to work long hours in all types of weather. There owners where very cruel and didn't allow the slaves to attend real churches.

The Americans are getting better at having three own country in my opinion. I see there strong points in politics. They already of advanced systems that haven't been sen before and are successful with there democracy government. Their American system created by Henry Clay is already working well from what I see. The American have a good start to there new country.
