April’s race weekend has come and gone in flash! This month our competition took place on the Mansell (C) 3.4-mile course where our members not only battled each other, but also our whirlwind weather. We had 15 Prototype and 12 Sports Car drivers on grid for an epic and breezy weekend as we near closer to the series finale.
Our Prototype and Sports Car drivers had a wild ride during this month’s race weekend! Multiple vehicles spun off track causing a few race restarts and full course cautions, but thanks to our amazing racing shop and track support, our competitors didn’t lose any momentum. The Spring Mountain Racing team miraculously got multiple cars back up and running for the following races with their fantastic “arrive and drive” service capabilities.
This weekend we also saw some new track record holders for the Mansell (C) course! Roc Capobianco set the GT2 record for this configuration with his Ginetta. Additionally, multiple track records were broken in Sports Car, while a few Prototype records have still withheld the test of time. All lap records are set during official qualifications and races only, making the competition even more fierce for our drivers to attain the fastest times and gain those bragging rights. There is an epic battle currently in action between Mitch Bishop and Tony Bullock for the P3 class championship, so keep a close eye on those two racers next month! Karen Wonnenberg also achieved podium for the first time this weekend competing in the GT4 class. Way to go Karen!
As always, we want to give a huge thanks to our awesome Club Spring Mountain Race Series sponsors – Blue Marble Cocktails, Dakine, Vertra, and Michelin. Our Spring Mountain Racing and track support team also did an excellent job keeping us safe all weekend long – we are always grateful to have them looking out and getting our drivers back on track! There are only two race weekends left in the series... you won’t want to miss it!
