From July 1945 through June 1946, the United States shipped 16.5 million tons of food, primarily wheat, to Europe and Japan. On Nov. 22, 1914, German shell fire struck the Cloth Hall. Wooden scaffolding set up to repair damage caused by earlier shelling quickly ignited and the upper floors of the hall were badly charred.

Ottawa’s Centre Block was rebuilt in fairly short order. On September 1, 1919, the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VIII, laid the cornerstone for the Peace Tower. The structure was completed in economic support to help rebuild Western European economies after the wwi.The rebuilding of the Cloth Hall finally finished in 1967.

As we all know, WWI exploded in Europe in 1914 and spread around the world.

The Marshall Plan has long been heralded as the most successful foreign aid.
