As a 5-piece American progressive power metal band inspired by music from "The Legend of Zelda" series, Master Sword celebrates Nintendo's series in a way no one else ever has. Taking influence from an array of hard rock to progressive metal favorites, Master Sword has crafted tracks which uniquely capture the spirit of the games and molded that spirit into impressively rockin' heavy metal tunes.
Master Sword was formed in Maryland in 2013 with the goal of writing original music that draws heavily from 70's/80's progressive rock and heavy metal, with Zelda-inspired lyrics and melodies woven fluidly throughout. The influence of Koji Kondo shines through Master Sword's top-tier musicians with influences from classic bands such as Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Rainbow, Opeth, Porcupine Tree, and Helloween.
Shadow and Steel is Master Sword's long awaited full-length album, featuring 10 songs inspired by Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series. These original tracks expand fan favorite motifs and thematic concepts into original arrangements - with screaming guitars, pounding bass, expressive keyboards, innovative drumming and the siren vocals of Lily Taylor serenading you with the lost stories of Hyrule.
- Master Sword has performed at many high-profile metal and video game music events, including Dragon Con, MAGFest, MAGLabs, Flight of the Valkyries and Bit Gen Gamer Fest.
- The release of the "Shadow and Steel" album resulted in the 2018 Game Audio Network Guild awarding Master Sword "Best Rock/Metal Remix" for the track "Hyrule Field".
- Following the release of their 2015 EP "Epoch", Master Sword successfully campaigned in 2016 to crowd-fund their first full-length album, raising over $6,000 for the production of "Shadow and Steel".
- Master Sword has shared the stage with national and regional favorite heavy metal and VGM acts such as Galactic Empire, Powerglove, A Sound of Thunder, Bit Brigade, and MindMaze.
