The American Government created laws such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Conservatism movement and the Antiquities Act to protect natural and historical resources for years to come.

Environmental Protection Agency:

  • prevent pollution from harming organisms
  • ‘The Primary concern is the regulation and cleanup of industrial pollution.In economic terms pollution is classified as a negative externality (a cost that is passed on to people not directly involved in the initial economic activity).”(Environmental).

Antiquities act:

"extended federal protection to areas that held great archaeological significance. Passed on June 8, 1906, the Antiquities Act has since preserved and protected more than 200 such areas” (Antiquities).

Conservatism movement

"order, and liberty in the United States, such as institutional checks and balances, restrictions upon power, and protection for private property"(Conservatism)

"Every 20 minutes, the world adds another 3,500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life - at least 27,000 species per year"(Wildlife)
