HARMONY IN THE SKIES
Teams "Endeavor 1" and "Endeavor 2" from Harmony School of Endeavor - Austin made it to the finals for the Team America Rocketry Challenge, making them the only team in Austin to attend. SHARK TEETH, TURTLES, AND SQUIDS, OH MY!
Fifth grade students from Harmony Science Academy - Cedar Park went on an unforgettable trip to Galveston, Texas this May to start off the summer! Science teachers, Mr. Dickson, Ms. Witt, and Engagement Coordinator, Ms. Sonoskey, took the elementary Eagles on a sea adventure where they received hands-on and feet-in experience as they participated in activities such as wading through a salt marsh, dissecting a fish or seining in the surf. Our students had a fin-tastic time at the Sea Camp educational outreach program provided by the Texas A&M University Galveston Campus.
UT STEM COMPETITION
On May 10th, sixth grade students from Harmony School of Excellence - Austin attended the UTeach Outreach Mini STEM Competition at the University of Texas at Austin campus. Part of the UTeach Outreach program, the competition seeks to serve as the building blocks to encourage students to participate in the National Science Olympiad Competition. Through various STEM-related categories, our sixth graders were put to the test and worked together to complete their experiments among four Austin area schools.
HSE Tigers were were able to compete in 3 categories: Natural Selection, Mineral Identification, and Experimental Design. Although this was their first time participating in this competition, three of our students placed 4th in the Natural Selection Competition! Congratulations, Jose, Nicholas, and Bryan! Students also sat in on a chemistry lecture where a professor showed them the power of a mini nitrogen explosion!

REAL WORLD ECONOMICS
As part of a final project, graduating seniors in Economics class are required to prepare a business plan for a concept that they have developed. The students end the four-week-long project with formal presentations to members of the Pflugerville business community. “They receive constructive criticism and feedback by individuals who have been successful in their field and are eager to share their experiences and knowledge with the students,” says Economics teacher, Jeremy Lippart. The goal is for students to get real-world exposure to expectations of the work force and at minimum practice soft skills needed for the transition to adulthood.
Viva la Cultura
HPS Austin kicked off the month of May by celebrating Cinco De Mayo. Campuses highlighted the beauty of Mexican culture and heritage through traditional folk dance and song performances, a dip-off competition, educational presentations, and a special DĂa de la Madres celebration.
