Three years ago it was wooden docks and water, two years ago it was leading lines, last year, well... last year was a difficult year. Every year I seem to fixate on a new photographic obsession, something that I hunt with relentless determination.

This year my obsession is snow fences. This new fixation began when I went to the beach for Week Six of this 52 week photography project. I didn't have a specific plan when I got there, but snow fences became the theme. Since then I can't seem to get enough of them.

Snow fences do build on past obsessions - wood, leading lines, the beach, manmade structures intertwining with nature.

I went to the beach last week to look for a subject for Dogwood2017, a 52-week Photo Challenge I am participating in on Flickr. A challenging group, in a good way. Last week's prompt was Technical - 10 shots of a subject from different angles, focal lengths, and distances, then chose your best one to post in the group. My plan was to photograph a snow drift, but as you can see my obsession won.
