#thankfulThursday

The office staff would like your help in recognizing our staff. Please take a few moments and use the link below to provide some encouragement to those folks that are making a major difference in your child's future. These comments can be anonymous, or you can provide your name. The office staff will use the provided comments every Thursday for our #thankfulThursday movement. The attached form can be completed, as little or often as you like, throughout the entire school year. We appreciate your support in growing the culture of gratitude that already exists at MIS!!

A comment shared this week:

Mrs. Diehr - "What a refreshing person and teacher. Takes the time to interact with me and provide feedback for the best success of my child. Also, interacts with my child to understand the best way to reach her during challenging assignments."

"I am very grateful for Mrs. Hall. She is the type of teacher focused on the success of the individual child’s education and growth. Maxwell is lucky to have such people to create the staff and educational model."

2nd Semester change in placement request (VIRTUAL VS. ON- SITE)

If you plan to change your child's educational placement from virtual to on-site OR on-site to virtual at the beginning of second semester (January 4th, 2020), please complete this form so that we can make the appropriate arrangements for your child. IF YOU PLAN TO MAKE NO CHANGES, PLEASE DON'T COMPLETE THE FORM.

If you plan to change your child's placement, this form must be completed by November 24th, 2020. Please note that if you have multiple children for which you plan to modify the placement, you will need to complete the form for each child.

pto news

Next week is National Education Week. The PTO will be providing snacks and treats for the staff. If anybody would like to make a donation, please contact Mrs. Samantha Edwards at Samantha-e@att.com or at 317-847-2163. Thanks for supporting our teachers and staff.

2nd Annual Arbor Day Foundation Collection

The Environmental Club will be raising money for the Arbor Day Foundation next week, November 16th - November 20th.

Why should I contribute? Trees remove carbon dioxide from the air and create oxygen that we need to breathe. With the amount of trees lost in the fires in the Amazon rainforest, California, and elsewhere this year, as well as the number of trees being cut down to make way for development, the need for planting trees is at an all time high.

This year the Club will be donating the money raised in memory of Mrs. Chance. The Arbor Day Foundation will plant one tree for every $2 received in the Superior National Forest in her honor, as well as provide her family with a memorial card detailing the location of the trees.

How can I donate? Students will give donations to their homeroom teacher. For every $2 contributed, students will be given a tree to write their name on, AND the tree will be displayed in the MIS entryway for everyone to see.

k-kids Annual food drive

Starting Monday, bring any non-perishable food item to donate. With the COVID restrictions we are under this year, we will not be doing our typical class competitions. Donated items will be placed in boxes as soon as students enter the building each morning.

All items collected will be donated to the local food pantry.

schoolstore.com

Our school will be participating in the SchoolStore program again this year. This online program helps our school earn cash without students selling door-to-door, collecting money or delivering products. Over 400 merchants, including Kohl's, Old Navy and WalMart.com, have joined together to offer up to 50% of sales to our school for shopping through SchoolStore.com.

You shop online for what you are planning to purchase anyway and support our school. Simply go to www.schoolstore.com, select our school (School code: 8981) and let the shopping begin!! Feel free to share with family members and friends.
