I was born March 2nd, 2001, Six months before the attack on the world trades center. I was born in Emerson Hospital in Concord Massachusetts. I Grew up in a small white house in Maynard, Massachusetts. I was an only child during my time in that house, along with my dog Gretel. I lived in that house for three years before I moved to Stow.
When I was six months old my mother had been taking me to a "mothers group" where we did who knows what. On September 11th right before we where about to leave my mom got a call from one of the mothers telling her to "Turn on the T.V.". She turned it on right after the first plane had hit the north tower. She called my dad downstairs as he was about to leave for work and soon after they watched as the second plane hit. My father did not go into work that day. Instead we went for a walk in the woods where my parents briefly spoke to a woman on a horse who said "What a beautiful day".
On September 9th 2001, four commercial airplanes where hijacked by Al Qaeda and headed for four different targets. The first hijacked Boeing 767 took off from Boston and crashed into the North Tower at the World Trades center in New York. The next Boeing is hijacked and flown into the South Tower, moving through the tower and into the ground. Flight 77 is hijacked and flown into the south side of the Pentagon. The final passengers aboard the last flight learned about what was happening and fought the Al Qaeda members, resulting in the plane crashing in a field, no one knows the exact target.
When Barrack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States, I was 7 years old in 2nd grade. I remember hearing all the controversy surrounding him as the first ever African American President. I didn't know much about Obama when he was elected, George Bush had always been my president, I didn't know much about him either. All I remember about Bush was wanting him to win because I thought his last name was funny. I was a democrat as well back then even though I probably had no clue the world "Democrat" existed.
I remember being in a grocery store and looking at the magazines on the shelves while waiting for my mom to checkout. There was one magazine that talked about how Obama had a "Fake Birth certificate". The whole topic of a fake birth certificate confused me at the time so I asked my mom what it meant. She told me there where some people who didn't like our President because of his race so they try and come up with lies. This was my first encounter with fake news.
Eight years later President Barrack Obama's terms have come to an end. I believe he was one of the best Presidents the United States has seen. Still, controversy surrounds him such as his Obama Care and him being the first black President. Although, I'm now seeing most Americans lean towards his side. His Successor, Donald Trump is now in the White House and that has a whole different spectrum of controversy.
