Staffing Update: On Monday night, the GC School Board approved Mr. Daniel Buckalew as the new music teacher for Harris. Mr. Buckalew has 10 years experience in k-12 music education. We look forward to him joining us in late September.
Greenfield-Central School Foundation Red Letter Gala: Greenfield-Central School Foundation is holding their annual Red Letter Gala event on Saturday, September 28th. This is a great way to learn about our schools, celebrate this year's hall of fame inductees, and help grant a wish for a teacher. Please see the flier attached for more information. If you wish to register for the event you can do so at the following link:
Field Trips and Parent Volunteers
If you plan to attend a field trip with your student, you must have a background check on file. Please complete the Volunteer Application for this background check. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance. The link is below.
Parent Volunteers: Our volunteer profile form is available for the 19-20 school year. Just click the link below! You have to be approved to work as a classroom volunteer and to chaperone field trips. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance of volunteering.
Lunch Accounts: You may put lunch money in your child's account at www.ezschoolpay.com. There is a small fee and you will need your child's student number found in PowerSchool. Lunch money may also be submitted by check. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a "block" on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. Please talk to your child if you do not want them purchasing extra items.
Book Rental: You may still submit this if you have not. Thanks to those who have already paid or set up payment plans. If you are on a deferred payment, then the due date will be September 20, 2019. Click on the button for the fees.
PTO: There was a really nice turn out at the first meeting. Thank you for your interest in helping Harris. The next meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 6, @ 2:30 PM here at Harris. We hope you can join them.
Immunizations: If you have not turned in your child's shot records, you will receive a letter in the mail in the next few days, and we will be contacting you by phone. If you are unsure of your status, please feel free to reach out to us. All records must be received by 8:00 am on September 20th. The Hancock Health Department offers immunizations and you can contact them to set this up. If you need assistance contact our school nurse at email@example.com or call us at 317-467-6731.
Attendance: Congratulations to Mrs. Meek's class for having the highest attendance percentage in August. They received a special treat to celebrate their accomplishment. We encourage all of our students to attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good school attendance is important in helping students achieve academic and social/emotional success.
