Chicago's Gun violence in 2016 Over the years, Many people including African-Americans have been killed due to gun violence. Still no one has #putthegunsdown or #dontshoot.

Chicago tribune says Chicago is the most deadliest and most violent month has been August in 20 years. Tavon Tanner was shot in the back and undergone with several operations to repair the damage. Tanner doesn’t talk much and he cried often. Tavon was among 400 people shot in Chicago this month.

In nearly 20 years, august has been the most deadliest month in Chicago. Friday to sunday, nine people were shot to death, and 61 were injured by gunfire. One victim was Nykea Aldridge, 32 year-old moth of four who was pushing her baby in a stroller when she was hit in the head with a stray bullet. She lter soon died afterwards. Chicago is be known as America’s second largest city. More than 2,700 people have been shot and Mayor Rahm Emanuel has blamed the spike on an increasing in gang activity and has called for stricter gun restrictions. The city’s African-American population are most vulnerable to gun violence, people who live in neighborhoods on the city’s south and west side are up to five times more likely to be shot and killed as the average Chicagoan.

Chicago police have arrested two brother in the connection with the death of NBA star Dwyane Wade’s cousin Nykea Aldridge. Both brother have been charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder. Both men are gang members who were on parole for gun violence. Nykea Aldridge was caught in the crossfire of a shooting with her 3 week old infant. Police stated that the driver was the target due to them exchanging looks with a man who had been dropping off women. The brothers thought the man was armed. Dwyane Wade speaks out against violence he stated “ My cousin was killed today in Chicago. Another act of senseless gun violence. Four kids lost their mom for NO REASON. Unreal. #EnoughIsEnough.
Laquan Mcdonald was passing along between the middle of the road toward flashing blue lights of the police cruisers trying to stop him. Two officers jump from their vehicle, guns were drawn. McDonald keeps moving, trying to pass the officers who were several feet to him. McDonald was holding something is his hand and swings his arm and in a split second an officer opens fire. The force of the bullet spins McDonald around. Only startling images that show a white Chicago police officer unloading 16 rounds on an African-American teen. McDonald had a 3-inch blade in his head when police saw his hand. He was alive when paramedics arrived but later died on the way to the hospital.

28 year old Antonio Perkins was hanging out with friends had hadn’t seen since Wednesday night. Two of his three children joined him to enjoy the weather. The sun was setting and Tony recorded himself on Facebook live him not saying much. Then, there was a sudden blast of gunfire. Tony fell on the grass after two shots then ten more shots was fired after that. Police says the shooting was gang-related but family and friends of Perkins stated that was in his past. To make matter worse for this family, Antonio Perkins’ brother was also shot to death several years ago.

15 year-old grandson (Javon Wilson) of U.S. Rep. Danny Davis was fatally shot in a “dispute over gym shoes,” According to police and family. Two teen assailants entered the him and began arguing with Jovan. The teen’s mother had left home to pick up food. At some point in the argument, one of the assailants, 15 year old boy, pulled out a gun and shot Jovan in the head. A 17-year-old girl was the other assailment. Violence has spiked this year in Chicago to levels not seen since 1990s and several people with prominent connections have been killed. “We are tired of watching families get destroyed by gun violence and are pleading for elected officials to give Chicago police tool we need,” said Guglielmi.
