A warm welcome back to school and we hope an enjoyable festive period has been had by all. The children have made a great start to the new year and it has been lovely to see so many smiling faces around school.
During term 3 our value is 'respect' and we will be learning how this applies in a range of contexts. This may include thinking about children respect themselves, each other, belongings and the environment around them.
Lost Property
Just before Christmas we donated a huge amount of clothing to a charity shop from our lost property. As none of the items in there were labelled we were unable to reunite them with their owners. Please can we ask that all items of clothing are clearly labelled. Sometimes names get rubbed off or labels become loose and so we would appreciate it if you could double check the clothes that children are wearing to school. Please also be aware that over the coming weeks we will be emptying our lost property on a more regular basis (twice per term).
AfPE Award
We are delighted to inform you that Monkton Park has been awarded the afPE Quality Mark with Distinction for a period of 3 years. Following an extremely thorough process it was decided that we demonstrated a range of evidence which supported the 'with distinction' judgement. We are particularly proud that our validator noted that she 'had not observed standards of teaching and learning like this (in the games playing I observed) for quite some time!'. A huge thank you to Mrs Douglas for the work that has gone into ensuring that PE is such a beacon of strength at our school and which has resulted in this brilliant achievement.

Agenda:
1. Christmas fair total stall and breakdown
2. Scarecrow trail - 11th and 12th May
3. FOMPS core committee positions to be filled - Treasurer and Secretary
4. Other upcoming events
5. Recent and proposed purchases
6. Any other business
Please come along and have a chat about what the school and FOMPS are doing in 2019!
The total raised at the Christmas fair last term amazingly came in a over ₤3000. Nice and consistently, ₤5 more than last year! Well done to all involved and thanks to those who attended.
Our next big event is the Scarecrow trail on 11th and 12th May, please let us know how you can get involved; either find one of us after school or email FOMPSpta@gmail.com
Also, you will have seen that the outdoor classroom is nearly complete. If anyone has a 200L water butt they no longer need and are willing to donate to the school, we will soon be installing guttering and this will help us to save some money and help with recycling!
Thanks and Happy New Year from your FOMPS committee (who have some positions to fill by the way!)
