A highly skilled and interactive quartet that brings the music of Freddie Hubbard to life in a series of colourful interpretations of some of the trumpeter’s most enduring compositions........

....which features the co-leadership of renowned Trumpet & Flugelhornist Bryan Corbett (Brand New Heavies) and the outstanding bassist Tom Hill (also the voice of ‘Tony the Tiger’).

This quartet delivers an exciting mix of swing and groove tunes that celebrate the late great legend Freddie Hubbard who recorded and played with almost every American jazz star between 1960-90.

The Quartet also features Al Gurr on Rhodes/Piano, and Nick Millward on Drums.

The “Ready For Freddie” Quartet

The highly skilled and vivacious playing allied to the good natured presentation of tonight’s material was a cut above the usual jazz ‘tribute’ set and earns the quartet a four star rating as a result.
Freddie Hubbard’s bright, memorable and hooky tunes are perfect vehicles for the kind of inventive and imaginative jazz improvisation that the Corbett, Hill, Gurr, Millward quartet bring to them.
great playing all round from a very well balanced quartet.

You may see him performing at a business presentation, a jazz gig, an orchestral concert, a corporate event, or on a rock gig but all will have a common denominator; musicians having a laugh!

Al is such a superb accompanist and soloist. He swings like crazy, and uses the timbres of the keyboard to perfectly match the tune.
Gurr proved to be a highly imaginative and inventive keyboard soloist and his contribution throughout the evening was consistently impressive.
