What was women's duty and how has it changed?

Women dominated the household but outside of the home, their families dictated their behavior.

Japan’s involvement in World War II challenged the traditional expectations of women by increasing industrial jobs.

Their right when they are in marriage.

In the past, women were only allowed to work when they were married and were expected to be lifelong housewives.

Modern day women show the need to continue working to make a difference in society.

Has a women got any freedoms in marriage and has anything changed?

Marriage was often arranged. It is a contract between families.

Overall, women could own property, marry and divorce easily, vote and gain parental rights.

Increasingly, families want to have more daughters rather than sons.
