Made in Cornwall 2nd June 2017- a blog post from the penlee cluster interns

It was a proud event for us to participate in Christian Aid Breakfast event organized by St. Mary’s School, bravely handled by children of school. Children took orders from guests, who were mostly the families of students who participated to encourage their kids. All the tables in hall were full! It was overwhelming to see the place so full with the presence of around 15-20 children waiting on different tables taking orders and serving them. Josh, Sarah and I were helping them with tea/coffee preparation and toasting bread. The event was a huge success and we truly believe children got a lovely experience of the serving industry at the same time as having fun working in their groups with the professional look on – wearing Aprons, papers and pens to take orders.

The Film club at King’s Arm pub always proves to be an exciting time. Is it because of the interesting people who attend, movie we watch or the delicious food served? I would reckon it’s a combined effect of all of these. The movie of the month “A United Kingdom” was a 2016 British biographical romantic drama film based on the true story of the heir to the throne of Bechuanaland, Seretse Khama of the Bamangwato tribe, who studies law in London immediately after World War II. There he meets a White woman (Ruth Williams) whom he eventually marries, despite the protests of their families, and opposition from the British government.

On Thursday 25th May we reached the Quiet Garden, Paul Church at 7.30am for The Ascension day Service. We celebrated the Feast of the Ascension of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the fortieth day of Easter. We sang Hymns and prayers from Iona books. We then reached the top of St Pol de Leon Church in Paul Village climbing 87 small steps with David leading the way up. We read the Gospel on top with the beautiful view of the village and sea below. On the way down David explained to Sarah and Ashish about the history and how the big bells in church work. Also, when we got down, breakfast was already served on table. Thanks Andrew.

When You did fulfill the dispensation for our sake,

And unite earth to Heaven:

You did ascend in glory, O Christ our God,

Not being parted from those who love You,

But remaining with them and crying:

I am with you and no one will be against you.
