To begin, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Harn. I was not expecting to find such a wide variety of collections. I also believed that my visit was enhanced by going with fellow peers. We were able to discuss pieces and I was able to widen my perspectives when examining each piece.


If not seen in a museum, I would not have looked twice at this particular piece. At first glance, it just seemed like a piece trash one would recycle or throw away. To see someone recreate "trash" as art made me realize anything can be seen as art in the right perspectives. After seeing this piece, I began to appreciate the art found in the rest of the museum and saw the unique beauty of each piece. This piece made me start to appreciate even the small things in life.

The Asian art wing of the museum particularly stood out to me because of the layout. I loved how they included the garden as a part of the exhibit. I also found it visually appealing that you could admire the garden from either side through the glass windows. The indoor exhibit was also divided by region which I found interesting as well. The set up allowed me to appreciate each region in depth and connect them all together by the outdoor garden.

One of my personal core values is family. I believed this piece to accurately visually portray the core value of family. The protective positions of the guardians of the little one in the center showed the emotion of love. This bronze sculpture helped me to better understand the necessities and intertwinement of love and family. It also helped me see the importance of unity.


I believe the good life theme depicted in this art piece is "seeking the good life". Each individual square cloth is a part of the whole journey, uniting to form a completed product. This could translate to one's path on searching for the good life. It can be seen that the end product is not as important as the journey. These piece made me understand that the process of wanting to seek the good life is one's own crucial journey.
