Final Assembly Extraordinary Stories!

A few years ago, a former colleague from Orley Farm returned on the final day of term and dropped into my office to say how much they enjoyed the way that Orley Farm wraps up each term – with something aptly and simply named Final Assembly. He pointed out that at his new school, they run something similar, or so he thought. When he turned up to help lay out the cups and prizes, the Head’s PA said, ‘no need we’re done’…there was the House Cup on a coffee table!

Anticipation...

At the end of every term we present more than 200 awards. These include certificates, book tokens, badges, colours, ties, individual cups and shields and House cups and shields. They are to recognise the individual and combined ‘pursuit of excellence’ in effort, resilience, enthusiasm, reliability, courtesy, talent and spirit.

Some of the cups and awards presented today are over 160 years old…and this represents a tradition to recognise excellence and to show the next generation what it looks like so that they too, can strive to inspire…not a bad legacy from Mr Hastings back in 1850!

The smallest of all cups!
I love this cup...it's the Headmaster's Cup and it's the smallest of the lot! A former winner chose to take it up Kilimanjaro on a school expedition a few years ago and it returned a little battered and bruised!
Well done Henry...continue to lead with passion and integrity!
2 House Captains, proudly receiving the House Cup

Congratulations Broadrick...Winners of the House Cup this term!

The staff are sometimes more competitive...!
